This entire admin has looney tunes types advising it just like this whacked out prof. Since when was genetics part of economics? The truth is that with the exception of the very few who are born with serious health conditions, very few people have preexisting conditions prior to age 22-26 that would disqualify them from an individual health policy. I wrote health insurance(both individual and group),life, disability income, annuities both fixed and variable, surety bonds, section 125 and 401K plans, etc. The cold hard truth is very few people did not qualify. Those very few who did not waited until they had a very serious condition before they tried to buy health insurance. That is like trying to buy homeowners insurance while your home is on fire. One can usually get insurance for all other conditions except the preexisting. Heck if you had 5000 head of cattle in a fenced area with a gate and one got out the gate you would protect the other 4,999 by shutting the damn gate. Some 20- 30 years ago, I only had two people who could not qualify due to weight. One woman was 5’ 2” and 220 lbs. She needed to be under 200. Many with diabetes bought policies to cover every other condition. The truth is had people bought insurance before they got a serious condition-they would have been fine.
