WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The head of the biggest U.S. business group, a traditional ally of Republicans, said on Thursday that he remains confident that the top Republican in Congress will push to enact comprehensive immigration reform.
U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas Donohue said he is not worried about House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner's refusal to negotiate with the Senate on its sweeping bipartisan bill.
Donohue said he supports Boehner's decision to instead take a step-by-step approach with smaller measures to fix the nation's broken immigration system.
"I believe it will get done," Donohue said at a news conference attended by business, religious and law enforcement leaders, all of whom echoed his determination and optimism.

Today we were unlucky, but remember we only have to be lucky once. You will have to be lucky always.Unfortunately, the IRA's logic applies to an immigration amnesty, as well.
Yeah...GRRRR.
Don’t hold your breath for that.
Its not happening this session of congress.
Now 2015?? Watch out.
Immigration Reform? OK, let’s close our borders and enforce our immigration laws. That’s reform for ya.
Its time to name which businesses fund this business group.
You could write an immigration bill in three words: Enforce the law. probably too confusing for a politician.
Boehner is a Democrat’s Republican.
All that Boehner knows is the RINO Cave-In Maneuver.
It’s basically the business sectors of agriculture and construction.
well that explains their support- cheap labor mostly paid in cash.
Meat packers, agri-businesses, motels, construction outfits—companies that pay the Chamber to pay guys like Juan, Schumer, et al., to vote for another amnesty.
They need more cheap, hardworking, uncomplaining slaves willing to do backbreaking, menial work and live in subhuman conditions to replace the illegals who have learned enough English and acquired enough savvy to take the jobs of semi-skilled and self-employed Americans.
They can go home and apply like other foreigners who are complying with our immigration and naturalization laws.
Juan McCain admits he was wromg about Obamacare, and he’s wrong about “undocumented workers” and “comprehensive immigration reform.” He and his lawless Democratic friends and the US Chamber of Commerce can pound sand.
“Business leaders” sure aren’t very smart anymore. This dud thinks he’s going to get a whole lot of cheap labor from amnesty. The boy really needs to pick up a few union newsletters and read them. When the freeloaders receive their amnesty “diploma”, the first thing they’ll be required to do is register for the DemocRAT Party. Then they’ll be directed to the SEIU table to sign up to join the union. The “business leaders” will be paying the illegals thirty five bucks an hour to pick strawberries.
That makes sense. Traitors.
Good outline of unintended consequences. Maybe they will listen if we tell you, we are the same folks that saw the debacle of Obamacare.
The words “sweeping” and “comprehensive” scare the heck out of me when used in the same sentence with “legislation.”
Unfortunately, the Republicans see cheap labor. The only reforms that make sense for the country is to favor more skilled labor and to modify a family unification policy that brings tribes of the unskilled into the USA. Mexico is never going to be reformed if the ambitious dont stay and fight the oligarchy that is plundering the resources of the country.
Broken immigration system?
That’s a twist of reality.
What’s broken is the enforcement of existing law. That’s why they are called illegal aliens.
But the GOP cannot wait to cut America’s throat in a vain effort to get the media, the dems, Hollywood and the Devil himself to like them.
They will cave in to every leftist demand until even the dumbest conservative can see their true colors.
Meh, the politicians always tell us they got to fix what is broken. Well, who broke it? They did, by breaking what was unbroken until they broke it. Now the fix is the way they screw us by creating a new unbroken broken until they break it.
It is all so confusing ...and dirty.....the screw job on America continues! LOL
Well who really isnt smart are those low income workers that are here already. What do they think is going to happen when a 6 million newly documented workers can enter the work force. If you are paying some guy that has worked at kentucky fried chicken and has started earning $2 more an hour than minimum wage, because he has been there 5 years.... He will have his ass fired and replaced by a minimum wage employee. Its simple economics. You have no specialized skills that would protect you from termination. You wanted your cousin to come and work... now he will. Idiots.
Let’s see; a continuing supply of coolie labor, historically low import tariffs and a minimum wage stuck at depression era levels when adjusted for inflation. Yep the “Business Community” couldn’t be happier.
