The Five Hits Oprah’s Race Remarks: Way More ‘Wackos’ on the Left Than the Right

Which political party has the greater share of “wackos”? If you ask Fox News’ The Five, that honor belongs to the Democrats. The show turned to recent comments from Oprah Winfrey and Oliver Stone in an attempt to show how liberal Hollywood has made it impossible for the right to criticize President Barack Obama without being called “racist.”

Beginning with Winfrey’s comments about the “disrespect” Obama received because he’s an African-American, Andrea Tantaros said, “I’d love to ask her this question. If somebody like President Obama was working at her company Harpo, and had done something the equivalent of Obamacare at Harpo, do we think for one second Oprah would keep him employed, white, black or anything?” She added, “The beauty of Oprah was she didn’t play the race card in her career. She created a product everybody wanted to buy. President Obama created a mess that nobody wanted to own including himself.”

“If disrespect means racism,” Greg Gutfeld chimed in, “then how can you explain George W. Bush? Who I think was the beneficiary of more disrespect than Obama ever encountered as president?”

The Oprah Winfrey saga is sad. A talented black woman embarks on a television talk show career and is adored by millions of people black and white, and became very wealthy doing so. She broke away from the pack. Defied racial stereotypes... and ultimately reveals herself as a resentful prisoner of her own prejudices. Just sad.

This is Oprah's Rosie O'Donnell moment.

Her audience consists of mostly suburban, middle-class whites. In fact, lots of black stars and singers have denounced Oprah because she never had them on her show.

Now she's trying to get her ghetto pass back, but she's going to lose a lot of her audience and she'll become the female Al Sharpton.

Looks like not only Obama but any future black President is going to be immune to legitimate criticism because the left and the medial will always play the race card.

It always impresses me as to how Dana Perino continues to keep her cool in spite of the blustering of Beckel with his Socialist remarks and sexual innuendos.

Obama enjoyed a 70% approval after his first inauguration. So America noticed he was black only after he revealed he was a communist agitator?

I really thought that she did a great job in the Color Purple. I thought she was a very nice lady but she has disappointed me. I won’t miss her, I don’t watch tv anymore.

The Race card will get played as long is it works. Period!!! It’s effectiveness is simultaneously silly and maddening, though.

We’re trying to have a civilized and fact-based debate and then ‘Bam!! “You’re a racists” comes flying ot at us.

It’s the equivalent of a child placing their hands over their ears and screaming “la-La-La-LaL-La....” so they can’t hear you. It’s an immature claim ...but, again as long as it works as a political weapon it will be played. Hopefully, some cleaver politician will one day be able to disarm the comment....like Reagan was able to disarm Carter by saying, “Well, there you go again.....”

In generarl, the Dems get women voters by claiming the GOP wants to take their birth control, black votes by claiming the GOP is racists, and Hispanic votes by claiming the GOP wants to deport them. These emotional appeals work on the the uniformed voter even though they are absolutely ludicrous.

I don’t feel like a wacsist but, I am considering calling for the 13th and 14th amendments to be repealed.

Like the 18th a wrong can be righted.

/s

Flippin childish to continue using racism as some deep pejorative we’re all suppose to fear.

You objectify a certain people by its continued over use as a tool for promoting your world view of affirmative action.

How are we to recognize real raciscm when your constant harping dilutes the meaning.

You can take the black out of the ghetto, but you will never get the ghetto out of the black.

Tantaro, high marks for her analysis.

Oprah, too bad, always black first, American second. Black before anything.

Um, I don’t think Barry is Oprah’s type.

And vice versa.
