Undocumented workers stage protest, shut down traffic at major CBD intersection

NEW ORLEANS -- The population of undocumented workers in Louisiana is estimated to be around 65,000 according to the Pew Research Center's Hispanic Trends Project. Angela Castro is one of those 65,000. Castro came to New Orleans from Honduras shortly after Hurricane Katrina when opportunities for work were ripe and plentiful. She's since had two children. Castro says she and many undocumented immigrants often avoid attention. On Thursday, they sought it.

"We're all human beings. We have the right to remain in this country. In my country it's very poor. I came here to work, and this is where my children can have a future," said Castro.

Statements like that are divisive, but it was repeated loudly and many times during a protest near New Orleans City Hall. Organized by the Congress of Day Laborers at the New Orleans Workers' Center For Racial Justice, the protesters say they gathered to bring attention to what they call unjust immigration raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

"It's racial profiling against Latinos. We're calling on the Obama administration and local ICE leadership here in New Orleans to stop the use this program essentially to a Constitution free zone where people can be pulled over, handcuffed and the fingerprinted," said Saket Soni, executive director of the Congress of Day Laborers at the New Orleans Workers' Center For Racial Justice.

Her country is poor, she is here illegally, she has 2 kids likely to be on welfare, foodstamps, etc, etc. She has 2 kids in a way to demand this is why she cannot be deported and having 2 kids can be used a political pawns as well .Where does she get off saying we have a right to be here and we demand the police stop enforcing laws for anybody hispanic breaking laws such as driving without licenses/insurance. I suppose she thinks illegals also have the right to drive drunk ?

Good place to do some arrests and deportations, not?

Oh, forgot, we’re under Holderrules.

Holder, you know, the felon that’s heading their Just Us Department.

These bass turds should have been arrested and deported. There is no such thing as an “undocumented worker”. They are aliens in this country illegally. Therefore, they are illegal aliens.

"We're all human beings. We have the right to remain in this country."

Hmmmm.... do I, a US citizen, have the right to remain in your home country, buy property there without restriction, take advantage of government services if my fortunes change, and demonstrate about my situation on the street? Didn't think so.

Holder, Obama & Co. don’t enforce laws they don’t like.
They’re upfront about it.
The “undocumented workers” know this.
Our ancestors would have removed Obama & Holder from office by now.

Our govt. ‘Oversight’ committee is considering changing its name to ‘Overlook’ committee.

You don't have “The Right” to remain in this country, When you crossed that border without authorization you became a CRIMINAL. Now what part of that don't you understand?

From link..But the advocates of reform say that without bills dealing with the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently here — at least by offering some legal status — “there’s nothing to talk about.”

“It’s in their best interest to move this,” Bird said. “We are not getting tired. The time is now. This is something that everybody wants.http://www.ibtimes.com/immigration-reform-news-advocates-say-bill-isnt-dead-until-we-say-so-1464970

“There’s a very small extremist minority that shouts very loud, not big in numbers,” she added. “I guess they are afraid of them when they should be afraid of the voters...”In other words illegal aliens intend to vote be it legal or illegal for they will be voting thinking this another human right they have

We have the right to remain in this country

Invasion is a civil right?

And then she goes into a rant about how Latinos are racially profiled. Since when is "Latino" a race?

Been saying this now for a decade on this forum: they are trying to use race to pry open the borders permanently.

There is no right to occupy the United States. There is no right to come here and insist you can rule us through your votes.

That would be invasion and takeover. Our Constitution specifically mandates that the first responsibility of government is to prevent that.

“We’re all human beings. We have the right to remain in this country. In my country it’s very poor. I came here to work, and this is where my children can have a future,” said Castro.

CORRECTION!
This is what he SHOULD have said:

“We’re all human beings THAT BELONG IN OUR HOME COUNTRY. We have NO right to remain in this country. In my country it’s very poor AND THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM OF HARD WORKING AMERICANS THAT DO NOT WANT TO SEE MORE JOBS STOLEN. I came here to work AND STEAL A JOB FROM AN UNEMPLOYED AMERICAN THAT IS HERE LEGALLY, and this is where my children can have a future SO THAT WE CAN TAKE THE FUTURE FROM AMRICANS THAT ARE RIGHTFULLY HERE. IBELONG IN JAIL FOR BEING A FORIEGN INVADER. REMEMBER, THE ONLY 100% PREVENTABLE CRIMES ARE THOSE COMMITTED BY ILLEGAL ALIENS”

I'll gladly give my tax money to have Immigration and Customs Enforcement round all these illegals up while they are together in a convenient clump!

We have the right to remain in this country

No you don't. You came here illegally. You broke the laws of the very country you claim to have a right to stay in. You deprived American citizens of work and most likely tax benefits as well. You are a criminal. Period......................

*Where does she get off saying we have a right to be here*

So, when do they plan to send those of us whose families have been here for 200 years off to a third World country to make room for the illegal invaders?

Are the Feds going to let all the rest of the 7 billion people on the planet that would like to be here in?

YES YES YES

Bleeding hearts of America need to go bleed over in those other countries where they could do some GOOD, dig?

God made more land in this world than the USA. The folks who whine about the privilege of the USA shouldn’t be trying to dilute it here... they should be trying to grow it abroad. I hate to say Barack was right about something, but he was when he welcomed the rise of China. We should welcome the rise of the whole world, really (as long as they aren’t sabotaging everyone else). Also China is doing well enough that we don’t get crammed with Chinese. And they’re still communist, if market communist. Why can’t Mexico do that good?

Now people who want to come over here and be a fruitful citizen, that’s a different story. Maybe the process should be quicker than it is now, for that. We are in the email age, not the snail mail age. The devil (and angels) are in the details.

“undocumented worker”

Do we now have to call the guy in the hoodie on the corner selling drugs to middle school kids an “undocumented pharmacist”?
