At least the County Attorney is considering that it might be self defense...

No threat to public safety?? I’d say that this incident illustrates quite clearly that there’s a threat to public safety.
We have *got* to end this madness.

Yep, if the guy had been cured of Cancer instead of taking the pain pills, all would be well.

Today more than ever thugs are taking a huge chance breaking into a home. Homeowners are fighting back. Holds true in my house.

"Pine County Sheriff Robin Cole discussed the shooting Thursday on his weekly radio show on WCMP, calling it a very, very dangerous and tragic set of events."
However:
"Police say there is no threat to public safety."

"...went to Carlson's farm to steal his painkillers..." "He shot one of the intruders, 23-year-old Gypsy Watts, who died at the scene."
PAIN GONE, ONE CANCER CURED.

It occurs to me...
What with Obongocare creating all sorts of opportunities for hackers, identity thieves, and scammers, could it be that scumbags might get access to people’s medical records for the specific purpose of finding victims that might have desirable drugs in their homes?

Pain killer abuse is rampant here. Meth and Oxy are the white man’s Crack. A friend had his Oxy stolen and there was no sign of a break-in. Scary.

Regardless of Obamacare, my first suspect would be the local pharmacy clerk. The only one with immediate, first hand knowledge of what drugs you just picked up and took home.

Not a bad trade: 75 year old man with terminal cancer survives. One Obama voter dead and two in custody.

What with Obongocare creating all sorts of... yes, they will be selling information about people that are taking oxys, etc. Very simple, since these gub'mint employees will have access to a lot of information, they'll know what people are being treated for, age, how many people live at the address (armed? -did they answer that question on the form from the doctor?.
It will be easier than scheduling the cable guy

Scary.Just wait until everyone's medical records are in a government database and the Obamacare Acorn operatives can get access to it and find out who's got what.

"the local pharmacy clerk. The only one with immediate, first hand knowledge of what drugs you just picked up and took home."This is exactly why I give any pharmacy my PO Box, rather than our physical address.

I take it this is poor old Gypsy. What a loss to the community. Who the hell names his kid Gypsy? Do we know if this is his real name or a nickname?

Governor Mark Dayton (DFL) (Minnesota DemocraticFarmerLabor Party, which affiliates with the Democrat Party.)
I still prefer the clarity of a newly-elected Arizona Maricopa County prosecutor, who back in the 1970s, when asked what somebody should do if a person breaks into their home, succinctly replied:
“You shoot the S.O.B.” (He did not use the abbreviation.)
And that has pretty much been the law there ever since.
