WASHINGTON Barack Obama won the presidency by exploiting a political environment that devoured George W. Bush in a second term plagued by sinking credibility, failed legislative battles, fractured world relations and revolts inside his own party.
President Obama is now threatened by a similar toxic mix. The disastrous rollout of his health care law not only threatens the rest of his agenda but also raises questions about his competence in the same way that the Bush administrations botched response to Hurricane Katrina undermined any semblance of Republican efficiency....
..... For the first time in Mr. Obamas presidency, surveys suggest that his reserve of good will among the public is running dry. Two polls in recent weeks have reported that a majority of Americans no longer trust the president or believe that he is being honest with them.
When you start losing the trust and confidence, not only of Congress, but the American people, that makes it even more difficult, said Senator Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia. You can work yourself out. But you have to be sincere, and you have to be honest. .....

Stumbles? The NY Times has to be joking. How about: Fell Flat On Its Face.
If the libs are nervous that people can’t access the web site, wait until they hear from 30 million people who do
Stumbles?
It staggered drunkenly out onto the freeway got hit by a Freightliner and has been run over so many times that its little more than a stain on the pavement.
:)
With all due respect, I always thought that the “botched” Katrina response was overhyped. Much of what went wrong was the responsibility of LA state authorities and out of Bush’s control. A lot of people even blamed him for the levies breaking, which was absurd.
In contrast, Obamacare was Obama’s idea—it was not a natural disaster as Katrina was. But the MSM is still treating him with kid gloves. If Bush had botched something as badly as Obamacare, they would be demanding impeachment.
I don’t think he’ll be playing golf in the next week or so.
And where are we on the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts under Obama???
The MSM has it's own agenda.
STUMBLED like the Titanic stumbled on her maiden voyage. ESAD libs!
As explained in the article (even the Bush crowd) use Katrina as “shorthand for bungled policy” - a situation that continues to drip-drip-drip negative press due to systemic blips and events they didn’t address.
Though of course Katrina was not designed by Bush or voted to arrive in New Orleans by the GOP. There are big difference but it’s used to describe how an administration can take a hit and those hits just never stop - and then the perception is carved in stone. But then again the truth that Obama and the Left are liars will be carved in stone.
He has lost the people’s trust.
Katrina is and was a red herring for the lib media to attack W. “Botched” is a kind term, reminiscent of Bush’s “soft bigotry of low expectations”. Think David Dinkins as mayor of NYC. Enough said.
The difference is that Pres. Bush was tarred and feathered for a natural disaster that he couldn’t control and the Leftist media howled was his fault. In ObamaCare, the Communist president planned this recycled version of HillaryCare from the beginning of his tenure, and every criticism was buried under the accusation of “racism” by that same Leftist media that was responsible for his election.
WTF?
It's just more proof of incompetence. As if we needed more.
Stumbled and is still falling down the stairs to the sub-basement.
Kings don’t need the trust of the people. As long as he can trust his food tasters and caddies he doesn’t care about anything. His military cares about the Constitution even if he doesn’t so he doesn’t need to be concerned about them like some kings might.
