Katherine Ann Power’s story plays out like a Hollywood movie: the radical anti-war college student participated in a Boston bank heist in 1970, intending to help fund a revolution. The heist went horribly wrong; her co-conspirators were arrested, and Power — the getaway driver — hid from the FBI for more than two decades under a different identity, spending some of that time working and raising a family in Lebanon, Corvallis and Albany.
The difference, Power said, is that she is not a movie protagonist, and Boston Police Officer Walter Schroeder, who was shot and killed during the heist, was a real person with a family.
Since that time — giving herself up to authorities after 23 years in hiding, spending six years in prison and 14 more years on probation

Power used several aliases during her time on the run until she found the name of a baby who had died about the time she was born — Alice Louise Metzinger. Power obtained a birth certificate, Social Security number and driver’s license under that name and established herself

On Sept. 24, 1970, Power and four other “sixties radicals” robbed a bank in Boston to provide funds for a revolution. No longer satisfied with protesting the Vietnam War, she was waging guerrilla war to overthrow the government. Power was not the one who shot and killed Boston Police Officer Walter Schroeder. But under Massachusetts state law, she was found guilty of manslaughter and armed robbery.
Officer Schroeder had a family, in this case a wife and nine kids. He also had a much larger extended family, one that every cop earns as a police officer. In 1968, he received the department’s highest honor, the Walter Scott Medal for Valor, for disarming three bank robbers.
He was just doing his job when one of the radicals that Powers accompanied shot him in the back at the same bank where he caught those bad guys before.

I read the exact same story as you. She'll get hers someday. There is cosmic justice indeed.
Though just 10 I remember shooting well, three years later his brother John was also shot and killed on duty, according to a comment on the memorial site his brother in law was also shot while on duty.

The Ayers say that they didn't do it but I'd like to hear a jury say it.. not much of a chance of that.. alas they are arguably now part of "the Establishment" that includes the MSM and other bratty issue of 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus psycho spoiled brats.

"We hear that both U.S. Justice Department reps and Police Chief Heather Fong put in calls to the union to find out just what they were doing talking out of school about an active investigation that may be ready to make a move soon in the 1970 bombing at Park Station. The word was, button your lips.
"Police Officers Association President Gary Delagnes confirmed that his union got a call from federal investigators telling them they had an 'active investigation and should not be commenting on the case.' Delagnes said the letter was meant only to show support for the family of the slain officer, Sgt. Brian McDonnell, and to help them 'bring closure to the case.'

The 64-year-old Boston-area resident will reflect on her past and her memoir-in-progress, tentatively titled, “Surrender,” during a public lecture scheduled for noon today at Oregon State University. The lecture is sponsored by the OSU Peace Studies Program, the School of History, Philosophy and Religion and the Annares Project.
These people should be hounded to death, like Nazi war criminals.
