Jared Bernstein, the man who was formerly responsible for advising Vice President Joe Biden on economic matters (wow . . . that would be a daunting task), has said that if Obama is a socialist, hes not a particularly good socialist. In fact, he said the President would have to be considered the worst socialist ever because the financial markets have been climbing during his Presidency. And to think everyone used to call me names for suggesting socialism is a tool used to prevent mass prosperity.
Biden's Former Economic Adviser: 'If Obama's a Socialist, He's the Worst Socialist'
Al Sharpton, who is still engaged in a lengthy and protracted attempt to host his own television show with some degree of competency, seemed to agree whole heartedly with the Vice Presidents former economic advisor. (Is this economic advisor a member of the same team that insisted we could keep our insurance, and that the 2009 stimulus would hold unemployment under 8 percent?)
They cant just argue different economic policies or opposition economic proposals. He has to be a socialist. His plan is a job killer. Its all this name-calling and gutter talk, said the MSNBC host who has accused Tea Party members of being racist, bigoted and homophobic. . . Irony abounds.
We've actually been doing okay, maybe even a little better than okay, given the kinds of head winds and dysfunctional policy that this Congress has been throwing at the economy, Bernstein replied, as if the litmus test for socialist policy is found within the S&P or Dow Jones Industrial.
We have to assume, given Bernsteins cozy relationship with the socialistically inclined White House, that he was not referring to Obamacare when he referenced all that dysfunctional policy coming from DC.
It is true that the market has gone up. Markets tend to do that when a nation begins to devalue its currency en masse, and the government is unapologetically handing out favors to big business. Our recovery, however, has been largely the product of imaginative statistics and media spin. Over 91.5 million Americans are now out of the workforce a 35 year low. A record number of people are now on food stamps, social security disability, and long term unemployment assistance. Full time jobs are drying up faster than private sector health insurance plans, and the underemployment rate continues to climb.
To suggest that the descriptive term socialist is inaccurate due to the fact that markets have climbed during the Presidents tenure at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is a fairly weak argument. Especially given the White Houses consistent vilification of people who manage to accumulate wealth in todays economy. (Unless, of course, they are prominent supporters. . . Apparently being wealthy is ok if you use your cash to promote a liberal agenda.)
Then came the coup de grâce:
Imagine how we could be doing if there were good economic policies, Bernstein said.
Good economic policies? Are we to assume he is referring to the Presidents unadopted plans for economic recovery? Would this include things like making the rich pay their fair share, taxing capital gains at a higher rate, placing transaction fees on market trades, imposing taxes on carbon, and increasing redistributive welfare programs? Sounds kinda socialist. . . Just ask Francois Hollande.
The statement made by Bernstein was almost as laughable as the mental image of him attempting to discuss economics with Joe (open-mouth-insert-foot) Biden; in large part because the Presidents proposed concepts of economic stewardship are merely clones of socialist party platforms from across the Atlantic.
Maybe Bernstein was on to something after all. . . The President has been seemingly unable to forge consensus among political factions on Capitol Hill. That, however, seems to be more illustrative of his leadership capabilities than his socialistic tendencies; but I assume Bernstein did not intend the comment as an assessment on Obamas competency. Would it make Bernstein more comfortable if we referred to the President as Americas incompetent socialist?
Uh, isn’t the term “Incompetent Socialist” redundant?
So far he’s managed to destroy much of the American dream in only 5 years so I’d say he’s successful. Maybe not so much him because I think he’s and idiot but the people around him and manage him have been successful.
The reason 0bama hasn't thrown Sebelius under the bus for sheer total incompetence is because EVERYONE in his regimeis incompetent, - he doesn't want anyone to upstage the biggest incompetent a$$hole of all - himself!
Comrade covering for comrade... take the 1.2 trillion in welfare to the market every year out and we have a market at 10,000.
All by design. Not a care about working web site
etc because that’s the point. Does anyone think
anyone will ever be held to account for anything?
Especially by the American people whose idealism
has been successfully reduced to... gimme my
free birth control pills or whatever.
Make no mistake - Obama is a full fledged socialist from the same mold as Stalin, Kruschev and Mao.
He knows exactly what is best for the peasantry while he and his cohorts live like royalty.
He just overestimated his ability to steamroller congress and the American people.
I don’t expect Obama’s setback on Obamacare to slow down pursuit of his socialist utopia at all.
I believe he will just become P.O.’d and more determined than ever to push his agend on America no matter what Americans want or don’t want.
It is important to note; History suggests that, under centralized, social governments, the true state of the economy can be effectively hidden through statistics and propaganda.
America is not venturing into some new, uncharted, endeavor here (per global history). Look at the old Soviet Union, European Union, Greece, Venezuela, etc. It doesn’t take a PHD of history to see the path we are headed down.
The more remarkable thing is, we have a solid Constitution that, when properly followed, absolutely prevents the events we are now experiencing. Excessive, all powerful and centralized government is EXACTLY what our founders worked so hard to prevent. And they were TRYING to prevent it in the future of America. They were absolute visionaries and even warned of the dangers of self governance.
It’s NOT Socialism!!! It Communism backed by anarchists. It’s fascism. It’s domestic islamic terror. It’s a death sentence for America!
Obama’s goal is the destruction of America.
He’s on track, not incompetent.
Exactly! And he’s not stupid either, nor clueless. He’s diabolical.
A competent socialist is a bully.
This isn't scary enough? They COUNT on Americans already being too brain dead and apathetic to stand up to them and stop this crap before it's too late. Obama and his minions are absolutely in contempt of us.
One thing we know sure about obama: He’s a thief.
The Alinsky-ites' target is the middle class.
Elites and the poor prosper while the middle suffers hardship.
