Nature abhors a vacuum.

The non-belief will get filled with something in a ready-made nasty machine.

I’m a Catholic and have a slightly different view of “end times” than the common Protestant belief, but this kind of crap fits both theories.

Well I believe you and crazy-evangelical I can agree on the Garden. Satan cooked up an illusory scheme and sold it to mankind.

All that's missing is the Kool-Aid.

As a protestant I share the Catholic view of the end times. Christ reigns now, and when He comes back, it's over.

History is replete with the filling of that proverbial vacuum, usually with something remarkably man-shaped.

It reminds me of an old Soviet joke:

An old babushka is waiting in the rain for a bus. Bus after bus stops but all are too crowded for her to squeeze in.

Finally a bus with enough room happens along.

As she boards, she says to the drive, "Oh, thank God I was able to get on!"

The driver says to her, "Woman, you must not say, 'Thank God.' That is forbidden speech."

Woman: "Oh, I'm so sorry. I am old and unsophisticated. Pray tell me, who should I thank instead of God?"

Driver: "You must say, 'Thank Stalin!'"

Woman: "Oh, thank you so much. Tell me this, though: If, perish the thought, Stalin should die, then who am I to thank?"

Driver: "THEN you can say, 'Thank God!'"
