Update #2 after numerous requests from readers to update this story.

The original posting is here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3079644/posts

Update #1 is here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3083078/posts

And now, update #2: The last contact I made was on October 31st, asking why the promised call back after 2 business days hadn't happened. I was told that they'd escalate it again and I'd get a call back within 48 hours, not including weekends. On November 6th I called in o tell them that those two days had elapsed and no call back had occurred.

I asked for a supervisor who told me that the callback standard is not two to FIVE business days, not including weekends. Fine.

Yesterday was SIX business days since I was told TWO business days. I called in again.

After the "Live Chat" operator (the one whose messages appear below a banner that say "Chat with someone who can help) told me she couldn't help me and I'd have to call the call center and they could help, the call center rep said he couldn't help me either. I asked for a supervisor who set a new record for the number of uses of the word "unfortunately" in three minutes. She also kept asking "what do you want them to tell you when they call back?" Well, let's start out with, "why is is so tough for someone who hasn't ever used another name, has lived in the same state aince 1996, the same address since 2005, and is known to the federal government as a licensed FAA pilot, a licensed FCC broadcaster, and a certified operator of the FBI's NCIC computer, to get his identity verified after uploading it twice and mailing a copy in to their Kentucky address, all of these more than three weeks ago?

She told me that the identity verification can take up to two weeks. I reminded her that three or more than two (by 50% as it turns out.) Sh reiterated how unfortunate all of this is and how sorry they were, but she just didn't understand why I was calling in and what I wanted her to do.

I asked for HER supervisor.

The supervisor's supervisor told me that I should not expect to wait FIVE to TEN days, not including weekends, for a call back. She escalated this again (third time) and I confirmed with her that I should not wait five to ten days, not including weekends, for something to happen, to make sure that I was hearing her instructions correctly. She confirmed that I understood right.

The score so far:

Days of attempting to get a price quote for "Affordable health care": 40. Hours spent trying: Almost 39. (I allow myself up to one hour per day). Number is times I've sent in my identity documents: 3 Number of time this has been "escalated": 3 Number of times they have blown past commitments to call by a certain date: 3

Number of times I've gotten a price quote for insurance that the law requires me to have: ZERO.

Number of times Mr. Obama has said, on video tape, "If you like you insurance, you can keep it: More than 20. Watch them here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGAdrQ2RpdM

Number of Americans who have had their insurance cancelled because of Obamacare despite the assurances detailed above: Multiple millions.

And the waiting game continues.

‘Sounds like you’ll get hemorrhoids and dementia before you get any answers. Hmmm—where did I hear that? :)

A helpful story to see the inside of the operations.

But I’m wondering about the wisdom of a guy who has all that certification and training, and still tries to buy through the system and its exchanges. Smart, maybe; wise, not so much.

This is impossible. Our President would not be out raising campaign money and playing golf if Americans were having troubles like this.

I don't know why people are having problems with this. The website was designed by highly qualified professionals.

I hope you have an ark. They've been peeing on you for 40 days and 40 nights and telling you it's raining.

The reason behind this is so I can do a broadcast news package on the change in premiums. It’s called the “Affordable Care Act: Is it really affordable? Since they won’t disclose individual rates for others, I’m using my own because I can darn well prove what they are.

No matter what the outcome, I’ll give the results. If Obamacare is cheaper, I’ll day so. If the premiums go up, Ill say so and have poof either way based on this reporter’s experience. But I can’t do anything until I can actually get a damned rate quote.

Quite interesting. Pls keep updating.

I looked into becoming a “navigator” here in Indiana (sort of as an undercover agent) but there’s a 12 page list of requirements including taking courses and passing an exam, and several hundreds in fees.
I’m not that ambitious.

Ya. Apparently, they don't check for a criminal records.

Betcha all would be waived if you are politically connected. You should try to find the organizations in charge of running it and try get in with them.

You might try to do the math:

People paying minus the subsidies minus Medicaid expansion minus administration minus etc.

If the thing is going to survive, the people paying into it will have to be much greater than the costs. Basic math and basic economics.

So far the costs are huge and growing and very few people are paying. A train wreck.

I thought the chief qualification for being a Navigator is a felony record.

Just post your real name to this record and say something critical of Dear Leader and the IRS will get right back to you.

-—— so I can do a broadcast news package——

There you have it

They never will and you thus will not

Think Tea Party and IRS

Indiana (being an R gov with R supermajority in both branches of the legislature) has made it pretty rigorous in my view.
To become a certified Indiana Navigator, an individual must:
(1)
Submit
online
the
New Application for Individual Indiana Navigator Certification
(2)
Pay the non
refundable
online
application fee ($50
for Indiana residents; $100 for
non
residents)
and processing fee ($15)
(3)
Email the Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form and any other supporting application
materials to:
Navigator@idoi.in.gov
;
(4)
Complete a criminal
background check;
(5)
Complete a pre
certification course of study
with an Indiana
approved trainer
and
(6)
Pass the
Indiana Navigator
Certification Exam
