The Great Democrat Policy Debate: Are We Wrong or Just Liars?
Townhall.com ^ | November 9, 2013 | John Ransom

Posted on 11/09/2013 4:58:06 AM PST by Kaslin

The New York Times brought out the big guns in defense of Obamacare.

Faced with a growing chorus of complaints about the keystone health insurance reform that bears Obama’s name, the New York Times shrugged.

They shrugged because that’s all they have left.

The shoulder shrug, by the way, is a sign of the lie.

The Times shrugged off the problems with the website, the problems with rising insurance premiums and the major problem with the president’s promise that if you like your insurance you get keep it.

The problem the Democrats face is that when Obama promised Americans they could keep their insurance he was either wrong and didn’t know it or he was lying and did know it; an incompetent know-it-all, or an incompetent liar. When they said we'd have more choices under Obamacare, we know now what they meant.

It’s a problem with all the Democrat policies: They either are wrong or lying.

Because, now we know that you can’t keep your policy if you like it. You have to get a new policy that more often than not will cost you more because you are paying for someone else’s benefits.

“Mr. Obama clearly misspoke when he said that [you could keep your insurance if you liked it],” writes the New York Times Editorial Board.

But what difference does it make they continue?

Those policies weren’t worth keeping anyway say the Manhattan liberals who think that $541 is a reasonable sum to pay monthly for parking.

“By law, insurers cannot continue to sell policies that don’t provide the minimum benefits and consumer protections required as of next year”

So what?

“[I]nsurers are not allowed to abandon enrollees,” the New York Times says. “They must offer consumers options that do comply with the law, and they are scrambling to retain as many of their customers as possible with new policies that are almost certain to be more comprehensive than their old ones.”

And MORE expensive.

It’s simple math: Cover more people, cover more things and you have increased costs. Someone pays, even if perhaps it might not be you. But if you’re insured already, it probably is you who does pay.

And in that case you were the very people who were promised that if you liked your insurance you could keep it.

That’s the dirty secret that Obama and the Democrats have tried to keep from Americans since they first introduced the Obamacare legislation.

It’s why they didn’t want anyone to read it.

It’s why they didn’t want anyone to debate it.

It’s why they shouted from the top of the rooftop amid Republican doubts: “But it’s the law!”

It’s simple math: Cover more people, cover more things and you have increased costs.

At first we were told that thousands of people would have their policies cancelled for “more comprehensive” and more expensive ones that offer benefits that most people didn’t ask for.

Then it was estimated --a few days later—Obamacare would affect in the hundreds of thousands policies in an insurance bait and switch that under any state’s laws would land a real insurance agent in front of a disciplinary body.

Now it’s estimated that at least 1.5 million and perhaps as many as 93 million people won’t be able to keep their insurance.

It’s simple math: Cover more people, cover more things and you have increased costs.

According to Forbes the administration itself on page 34,552 estimated “that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013,” and thus become illegal under Obamacare.

“How many people are exposed to these problems?” asks Forbes, “60 percent of Americans have private-sector health insurance…. As to the number of people facing cancellations, 51 percent of the employer-based market plus 53.5 percent of the non-group market (the middle of the administration’s range) amounts to 93 million Americans.”

But, hey, what difference does it make?

We only have four dead Americans, said Hillary.

Or 93 million Americans without the insurance they liked, says the Times.

They’re just numbers after all.

Yeah, as we know now—-much to our sorrow--Liberals are THAT bad at math.

And it’s just that simple.

Communism is the goal. By any means. Lying is a tool of the LEFT. When the LEFT gets caught in a lie, it is merely a distraction. To someone with a traditional sense of morality, lies are sins. But the LEFT adheres to a different moral code: SOCIAL JUSTICE, not God. So in the mind of a LEFTIST, lying is just fine if it promotes the ultimate goal of implementing the Workers Paradise.

By their very nature, Communists lie. They have to. If they told the truth, and people understood what the endgame was, they would not be able to get the necessary power to get what they want: the destruction of the United States.

——cover more things and you have increased costs.——

The really important catastrophe is yet to come and is hidden over the horizon. The words “increased costs” are without definition. No one knows how much costs will be increased. There is no limit determinable nor set.

What that means is that the increase in premiums across the board are but first guess estimates. The rise in everyone’s premiums has only begun.

For the Democrat nobility, there should be fear..... terrible fear.

When 1792 and the trials of 1793 cometo America, they will cease to be

The execution drugs will be expended by the tank car load

Dems don’t lie. They merely ‘misspeak’.

To quote Ted Kennedy (in his relative’s rape trial), may his soul burn in hell, “It’s just semantics.”

I once took a job as a vacuum-cleaner salesman. The first day on the job, the boss took me aside and explained how things work.

"However you want to get things done," he said, "there are two words you must never say. One is 'vacuum cleaner.' The other is 'sales.'"

"Why?" I asked.

"Because," he replied, looking at me as if I were an idiot, "that's what we do."

There is something much more insidious going on here.

They actually teach “deconstruction” of language in law schools: Communist deconstruction, designed to detach legal verbiage from a its denotation.

For instance, TO QUOTE BILL CLINTON: It depends on what the meaning of the word “is” is. Yale Law School? Harvard? Duke? The list goes on and on.

Once you unhinge the language from objective meaning, COMMIE JUDGES CAN SAY IT MEANS WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANT IT TO MEAN. Four justices of the US Supreme Court already subscribe to this. Teddy’s cowardice and perversion live on.

You have to get a new policy...

Too many of these articles are leaving out the other option which is responsible middle class working people dropping health insurance all together and paying for their health care themselves. What affect will that have? Will it increase an actual free market for health care?

Since government is actively working to also increase medical costs, this option will also be very painful for the middle class working people.

Make no mistake, this movement is about the destruction of the Middle Class, while pretending to care about the Middle Class. The Dems want permanent power and a communist country, and the best way to create that is to have 65% of us be dependent serfs and/or beholden government employees, and 35% compliant workhorse wealth creators (not enough to ever win an election for the other side, but enough to keep tax revenues flowing so that they can keep spending and misappropriating other people's money).

when Obama promised Americans they could keep their insurance he was either wrong and didn’t know it or he was lying and did know it;

It was unquestionably the latter. It's been reported that they knew in 2010 that millions would be dropped from their plans. His political and policy advisers clashed on how to handle this. The political wing won and the lie was trotted out and repeated dozens of times.

No one knows how much costs will be increased. There is no limit determinable nor set.

It's a known fact that insurers will set their 2015 rates as early as spring of 2014. The rates will be based on their risk pool as of then. If there aren't enough young healthy people in the pool, rates will go up for everyone. As the rates rise, more and more healthy people will decide to "go naked". Thus begins the death spiral.

I find it hard to believe that even Democrats could be as incompetent as this roll-out of Obama Care proves them to be. House and Senate Republicans read their plan and repeatedly told the Obama Administration for the last three years it wouldn’t work, and I find it hard to believe none of them bothered to read it and understand it for themselves, so what’s their game?

They’re genuinely surprised, but at what are they surprised? They couldn’t possibly be surprised that the obviously unworkable mechanics of Obama Care and a shoddily thrown together website aren’t working, so what’s going on here?

Could it be that Obama Care was never intended to get this far and was a “Red Herring” all along? As Obama Care was such an obviously unworkable plan, the Democrats knew the Republicans would find a way to prevent it from ever coming to fruition, and the Democrats would be left with the “issue.” Obama could then blame the Republicans for preventing “affordable” medical care for every American citizen and use it to rally his base at election time.

However, as it turned out, they either overestimated the Republican Party, or the Republicans saw this disaster coming and just stepped aside and let the Democrat Party shoot themselves in the foot.

Since government is actively working to also increase medical costs,...

I agree. The conservative solution should be to reduce government and 3rd party influence in the healthcare market. It should at least get a hat tip in these articles by conservative authors.

News from the DNC and President-for-Life Obama!

With the great success of the Obamacare program, our Dear Leader has looked out at the fly-over country ... and He sees a right for all Americans that needs to be provided. The inalienable right to transportation!

That’s right! With the passage of the new law, your right to cheap, dependable transportation can no longer be denied. There are currently 43 million Americans without transportation, but not after the enactment of ..... Obama-CAR!

Under Obama-CAR, if you like your current car, YOU CAN KEEP IT! ... as long as it gets 40 mpg city, 55 mpg on the highway. Otherwise, the new Obama-CAR! program will trade your old inefficient clunker for a new Obama-CAR. You will be able to choose any car from the vast array of Obama-CAR! choices ... including white, black or yellow GM (Government Motors) Metro!

Think of it ... a shiny new Metro in your driveway. You will be the envy of your neighbors, at least until they are forced to trade their old inefficient truck or SUV in for their Metro!

The advantages of the Obama-CAR! program are almost too numerous to mention. For instance:

No one can be denied cheap trusty transportation after the rollout of Obama-CAR!

Highways will be more roomy without over-sized trucks and SUV’s crowding everyone out.

No one will be envious of other drivers more expensive, impractical SUV’s or sports cars ... because there won’t be any!

Contact your Senator or Representative today! Let him/her know ... you want your Obama-CAR!

I am President-for -Life Obama and I appoved this message.

Yes, I can’t wait for the rollout.

However, the endgame is the Obamachip: implanted in your brain, it will track your every move, calculate your every economic decision, issue food stamps, ration water intake, measure your carbon footprint, correct your thoughts, deliver corrective pain for unauthorized actions or thought and pleasure rewards for being a good little communist.

The BORG is being implemented as we speak.

“They’re genuinely surprised, but at what are they surprised?”

While I do believe that OCare was designed to set us on a path to single-payer I think their surprise as at just exactly how fast and devastating the effects of the law have been. I don’t believe any of them truly understood the workings of the insurance market and how much the law would immediately set in motion a high-speed train wreck. I believe they thought this bill would accomplish the destruction of the health insurance but just not this fast and astonishingly so. They thought it would take longer, more gradually, for the water to boil. Turns out, the water was hot to begin with and the application of just such mild heat is causing it to boil over more quickly.

The GOP couldn't stop the passage of the law. Not one voted for it. They knew what would happen. I think the GOP honestly believed SCOTUS would overturn the mandate which was the cornerstone of the act. The SCOTUS ruling on the Medicaid expansion did allow a majority of governors to opt out and that was a bigger blow to the law than Democrats have let on.

I just think that Democrats saw this as a golden opportunity to enact something they have only dreamed about for decades. They rushed it through and thought they would tweak it as time went by-they even said as much.

But then 2010 came along. Rats underestimated the backlash against both the stimulus and Obamacare. They were sent reeling and the liberal agenda was stopped dead in its tracks.

As far as the rollout, the law required them to have the exchanges up and running by Oct. 1. Congress could probably have delayed that, but they were not asked to because people were getting kicked off their plans and public pressure against the law was swelling again.

I think they started to panic and decided they had to go live even if they weren't ready.

They have piled mistake upon mistake for the past years in the quest to fulfill their government takeover of health care.

I honestly think they are astonished that 1) people actually hate this bill and 2) there have so many adverse consequences to millions as a result of the bill.

Frankly, so did I. Dang.

And when Nanny Pelosi said that we have to pass DeathPanelCare to find out what's in it. She lied. She knew!

I honestly think they are astonished that 1) people actually hate this bill and 2) there have so many adverse consequences to millions as a result of the bill.

The idiots thought that people would sign up in droves and be hooked on UtopiaCare. Now, they are in a panic because the of the cancellation notices and tidal wave of disaster on the horizon when the employee mandate kicks in.

The most insidious part of Obamacare is the President delaying implementation at will and granting waivers at will.
