Planned Parenthood Wants Pro-Life Teacher Fired Who Fought Its Abortion Business

If good people do nothing, Planned Parenthood may well trump the civil rights of an exemplary public employee. That’s why we are encouraging Oregon parents and friends of life to be present at a hearing on November 14 to stand up for the civil rights of pro-life teacher Bill Diss and his heroic efforts to protect his community and students against Planned Parenthood sex indoctrination.

As we reported in March, the exemplary math and computer science teacher was unjustly escorted out of Benson High School by police, following a protracted battle with school officials over his pro-life work in the Portland community and speaking up against the presence of Planned Parenthood in his school.

Mr. Diss was notified that he was being placed immediately on administrative leave “pending a recommendation to the superintendent that you be dismissed from your employment with Portland public schools for reasons that have been discussed with you.” Mr. Diss told STOPP that he was given only a few minutes to gather his belongings before police escorted him out. He was ordered not to return to the Portland, Oregon, school where he has taught for 11 years.

Mr. Diss is an outstanding teacher who recently was awarded certification and recognition as the only teacher in Oregon who is qualified to teach college level computer science to high school students for dual credit. He has taught at the college and high school level for a total of 18 years.

Planned Parenthood has been in pursuit of Mr. Diss since 2007 when he began organizing efforts to stop Planned Parenthood. A STOPP press release from February of 2009 noted that Planned Parenthood of Columbia Willamette wanted Bill Diss’ teaching license revoked. The press release quoted ALL’s Jim Sedlak: “Bill has organized one of the most effective efforts against Planned Parenthood in the country. . . . It’s no surprise Planned Parenthood will resort to anything—even going after his teaching license—in order to silence him.” The news release notes and tracks Planned Parenthood’s use of strong-arm tactics against those who stand between it and implementation of its agenda.

You can read our full prior coverage regarding Planned Parenthood’s pursuit of Mr. Diss on our website.

The attorney representing Mr. Diss states that it is imperative that local families come to the upcoming hearing in support of the civil rights of Mr. Diss. She believes that he is being persecuted for his religious beliefs. The hearing will be conducted at the headquarters of Portland public schools at 501 N. Dixon Street in Portland, Oregon, beginning at 4 p.m. on November 14. Mr. Diss told STOPP in an e-mail:

The hearing is divided into two parts: The first part is at 4:00 p.m., when the district will have an hour to bring charges against me for misconduct and being unfit to teach.

[During] the second hour from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., we get an opportunity to respond to the charges. I am asking all to pray and I would cherish your presence the second hour or for the entire hearing. Please bring your families. I think it is important that the school attorney and board members understand the importance of families and children. The press will also be there and I suspect many supporters of Planned Parenthood will be there.

Please pray and please come if you are able. Please ask fellow church members, friends, and neighbors to also come. I think the district needs to be shown in a loving but powerful way that the public does care about the public schools and expects schools to follow the Constitution of our country by allowing teachers the freedom of speech and religion. Teachers should not be persecuted for their beliefs.

We cannot let Mr. Diss face these charges alone. If you are in the Portland, Oregon, area, please attend the hearing. All people of good will should contact the Portland superintendent of schools, Carole Smith, at 503-916-2000. Let her know that outstanding teachers like Bill Diss are rare, that religious persecution must not be tolerated, that the ridiculous charges should be dismissed, and that Mr. Diss should be restored to his teaching position among the students for whom he cares so deeply.

If you would like more information about Oregon, please FReepmail me. I lost my Oregon list when my computer crashed last month.

OK I have to ask this question, was Mr. Diss teaching pro-life values to students (in and during school hours), or is Mr. Diss being fired because he espouses pro-life views outside of school?

Bill Diss was notified on Tuesday after the last student left his class that he was being placed immediately on administrative leave “pending a recommendation to the superintendent that you be dismissed from your employment with Portland public schools for reasons that have been discussed with you.” The mild-mannered Mr. Diss told STOPP that he was given only a few minutes to gather his belongings before police escorted him out. He was ordered not to return to the Portland, Oregon, school where he has taught for 11 years.

Mr. Diss is an outstanding teacher, who recently was awarded certification and recognition as the only teacher in Oregon who is qualified to teach college level computer science to high school students for dual credit. He has taught at the college and high school level for a total of 18 years.

Planned Parenthood has been in pursuit of Mr. Diss since 2007 when he began organizing efforts to stop Planned Parenthood....

Bill was opposing, on his own time, outside of any school activities, the construction of a Planned Parenthood killing center in an African American neighborhood in Portland. The Planned Parenthood business was eventually built, and today targets minority women for abortions.

Planned Parenthood was unsuccessful in its revocation bid but, incredibly, a decree came from the school district that Bill could not indicate that he was a teacher at Benson or that he taught for the Portland schools when he was giving talks outside the school.

Things really started heating up again at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year when Planned Parenthood of Columbia Willamette began to push its Teen Outreach Program (TOP) in partnership with Benson High School. The program is fueled by a multi-million dollar Obamacare teen pregnancy prevention grant, funneled through a coalition of Planned Parenthood affiliates. Benson High is located in the inner city, where sixty-two percent of the students qualify for free or reduced price lunches.

On September 17, 2012, Planned Parenthood operatives entered Mr. Diss’ classroom where he was tutoring students in basic math skills and other subjects. They expected to be given the floor to recruit students for the Teen Outreach Program. Because Mr. Diss had been notified that TOP representatives were coming to speak to the class and they produced ID showing they were from Planned Parenthood rather than TOP, Mr. Diss asked them to leave his classroom. They left, and a few moments later the principal and vice principal came to remove Mr. Diss from class.

The next day he was forced to sit through a Planned Parenthood presentation. “They were extremely aggressive in obtaining the children’s signatures by promising them all sorts of gifts and cash,” Bill said. Planned Parenthood filed a formal complaint against Mr. Diss with the school. More - http://www.stopp.org/article.php?id=11782

Did they also give him cavity searches and kill his dogs?

I am for checking things out, and even use Snopes, but the premise that unless natl news covers a local story then it is doubtful, which you seem to infer, is itself dubious.

But it is reported elsewhere, including local TV news, among others. http://www.kgw.com/news/Benson-High-Teacher-removed-from-school-199456351.html http://news.yahoo.com/portland-high-school-teacher-says-sacked-anti-abortion-124608097.htmlhttp://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/24/math-teacher-escorted-out-by-police-set-to-be-fired-for-opposing-planned-parenthood-in-the-classroom/

OK good. Others are reporting it. Its always good to have a “crossfire” of multiple sources. Harder for the opposition to claim bias that way. :-)
