Doesn’t matter. A state that voted for Obama twice and border 3 gay marriage states, the population will eventually vote it in just like they did in Maine, Washington, and Maryland.

Though likely the Supreme Court will beat them to it. They will simply enforce faith and credit clause, and make marriages from Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois count in Wisconsin. A twice Obama state will not put up a fight.

True enough. Polls indicate that it's already passed the 50% threshold in Illinois, meaning that these legislators were in no danger today. They were just giving the people what they wanted, no risk there.

Also true. The Supreme Court was just making sure they weren't getting ahead of public opinion, but once it's clear the nation is for it, they'll ensure that every state must enshrine it into law.

I give it five years. Illinois is a big loss, because now a large percentage of Americans will live in a gay-marriage state.
