Report: Campaign that pushed dirt to reporters on Herman Cain and Mitch Daniels...was...Huntsman?

To think, we’ve spent two years believing it was Romney that had the nastiest, most relentless seek-and-destroy oppo operation on the GOP side. Now I feel like Frank Drebin discovering the missing evidence in the Kelner case. My god — he was innocent.

If you believe the sources in “Double Down,” Team Huntsman feeding a mega-smear of Romney to Harry Reid was the tip of the iceberg.

1994, his wife Cheri left [Mitch] Daniels for a married man, but then the couple reconciled and remarried. “In the years since, she had never spoken publicly about the turmoil, and Mitch had done so only once – pithily telling the Indianapolis Star, ‘If you like happy endings, you’ll love our story,’” wrote authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.

But then, as Cheri Daniels was about to keynote a fundraising dinner for Indiana Republicans – considered to be a big step toward her husband throwing his hat in – “an official for another GOP prospect” leaked the phone number of Cheri Daniels’ ex-husband’s ex-wife, who called her “vengeful” and a “narcissist,” the book reported.

“In the Daniels orbit, all fingers pointed at the Romney camp, and in particular to [Romney's campaign manager Matt] Rhoades, for shopping the ex-wife’s cell-phone and e-mail address to the press,” the “Double Down” authors wrote.

But, in reality, the person behind the leak was Matt David, presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman’s communications director-to-be, Heilemann and Halperin reported.

It figures. Huntsman was just a Democrat shill anyway designed to pull off voters from the GOP Candidates the media and Democrats (and GOPe) didn’t want to get the nomination.

Bonus points awarded for citing "Police Squad!" minus some points for citing "The Naked Gun" instead of "Police Squad!"

Also in the book it was revealed from vetting docs on Christie that he had too many skeletons he didn’t want to explain to be considered for VP.

Somehow this doesn’t really shock me. I can recall during the election, many of the Democrats I know though Huntsman was just peachy. Not really surprising that being scum and being liked by Democrats has a high level of correlation.

Huntsman was an Obama paid GOP assassin...

“You are a remarkable leader,” Ambassador Jon Huntsman wrote to President Obama in an Aug. 16, 2009 letter, “and it has been a great honor getting to know you.”

Huntsman underlined the word “remarkable.”

The letters were reported by The Daily Caller’s Jonathan Strong.

What makes this odd, of course, is the fact that Huntsman is resigning from his post in Beijing, China, to possibly pursue a presidential run against President Obama.

Wouldn't be the same thing they have in common with Harry Reid, now would it? (Besides being complete phony elitist azzhats, that is?)

Of course we knownow, and most of us knew then, that Huntsman never, ever was a real candidate. He was in it to sow discord and to eliminate conservatives. He was an obama campaign operative.

I read that it was Huntsman that leaked to Reid that Romney didn’t pay his taxes.

good article RWI...Conservatives must get over smear tactics and start replying in kind toward liberals. For example serial adultry among democrat politians is common and has been a major trait for 50 years... so conservatives should say out right ‘no I'm not perfect but no one is and if you drag an ex-wife into this so will I’, and then name names.

This stuff is more prevalent than we think. Politicos can turn on a dime, especially those with Legal backgrounds. Look at the Libertarian running in Va. Look at Bloomberg, The Rat running for Fla. Gov. Then look at the pundits. Ariana Huffington, David Brock, and others. Even my hero Pat Buchannan picked some weirdo to be his running mate in that Reform Party. Next up will be the Gov. of NJ. Predictions?

So... the author has just discovered the Mormon Mafia in politics?

Of which Reid is a member in good standing...

East coast writers are always a hoot to observe, especially when they discover that western politics doesn’t work like eastern politics.
