Basically it is sugar molecules randomly bonding with proteins without any involvement of enzymes; later the resulting molecules can even bond with additional proteins.

their formation is markedly accelerated in diabetes because of the increased availability of glucose also a "large body of evidence suggests that AGEs are important pathogenetic mediators of almost all diabetes complications"; AGEs "is a haphazard process that impairs the functioning of biomolecules" and is a significant contributor to many diseases of aging . . . [the molecules form a] family of complex structures that are often yellow-brown. [Can be formed by cooking to] create tasteful flavors that humans have learned to enjoy;

They have been known for 100 years in foods but only lately discovered that the body forms them also and the harm they do has been studied starting just a few years ago. Food companies now mostly use other means to add taste and texture to products.

I have no biochemistry training. This is info I gathered and interpreted from several sources.

Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs) "form at a constant but slow rate in the normal body; their formation is markedly accelerated in diabetes because of the increased availability of glucose also a "large body of evidence suggests that AGEs are important pathogenetic mediators of almost all diabetes complications"; AGEs "is a haphazard process that impairs the functioning of biomolecules" and is a significant contributor to many diseases of aging. Outside of the body AGEs may be formed by heating (e.g., cooking). Don't confuse the glycation anomaly with glycosylation. The longer a protein lives, the greater the chance it will meet a sugar that leads to “glycated proteins.”

Well,l I am just happy that they get some new business from me. I do not ask or expect any credit from them.
I just want to make sure that they stay in business.

Now THIS is the Savage that people might get excited about hearing in Hannity’s time slot, not the one talking about sex addiction.

I think that this is a very good description. AGE’s and Curcumin (Turmeric, I buy it by the pound and guaranteed 5 percent or more curcumin.)

It mentions that "Those suffering the diabetes complications [and aging I believe] that corrupt vision, renal function, nerves, blood vessels, and the skin have found hope in the interruption of protein glycation by curcumin, where it was seen to be one of several natural substances to interfere with the reaction of glycated materials . . . ." I believe it.. and certain amino acids (carnosine for example) are effective also. I do not have diabetes as far as I know, I don't go to doctors.. yet. I do have geezeritis though.

I have not yet read this (below). A cursory look revealed something about these glacated proteins and there may be a connection to autoimmune diseases. I'll read it tomorrow.

Autoimmune Diseases

Ever since it sunk in that we are entirely nothing more than trillions of chemical reactions I have found biochemistry absolutely fascinating.

Thank you. I will be more specific. I have rheumatoid arthritis.

I think that the Alive! soccer team was from Uruguay. The crash probably happened in Chile. They only ate people who were already dead, they did t kill people. Personally I think that they did the right thing, and would have done the same.
I know what Savage is saying, though. Once you’re on a slippery slope, where does it end? We’ve seen this happening with other social issues, and this is how you end up with California deciding that transgendered elementary school children can choose which restroom to use. 30 years ago the concept of transgendered children would have been beyond comprehension. That’s just an example.

You're welcome.

I am not suggesting that there is a cure for anything in any of this..

I am just absolutely impressed that the adjustments / additions I've made to my diet over the past ten years have delivered as promised;

and the reasons are explained by physiology and biochemistry.

What is the “dog in a manger club”, exactly?

As I understand it, dog in the manger is a term describing someone who covets something he or she can’t use and maybe doesn’t even want, but just doesn’t want anyone else to have. A classic example is a person who gets mad when their friend begins dating the ex-boyfriend or girlfriend that they themselves dumped. I always assumed it was an Aesops fable or something but don’t know.

According to Wikipedia, the term was thought to come from Aesop, but they don’t know for sure, so just call its origins “Greek”.

And I’m right. The dog doesn’t eat the hay, grain, etc. that the horses, donkeys, etc.eat, but sits in the manger interfering with them.

We really don’t care where he lives, as long as he doesn’t start bleating about smart and intelligent and free he is and anyone still in the US is border-line retarded.

As posted by one of my loyal dogs, Duncan Waring, not you fishtank. I do not reply to the dogs.

One of the dogs barks, haha. The “dog in a manger” fan club has four or five members. Every time one post one of their hate Alex post, I understand how unhappy they are.
They should know that my being back there would do NOTHING to help their pain. America is under attack by her own citizens.

I never claimed to be so smart and intelligent, but I am free, and live on a fraction of what life cost in America.
I could, in no way, live on social security alone if back in Tennessee.
As for health insurance, I pay about $10 per quarter for the three of us. For other cost, we could not spend $1000 per month, no matter how hard we try.
I am enjoying my years of retirement as I wish, not as someone else wants. I did my duty by operating businesses in Tennessee for almost 50 years.
Other FReepers are following me to freedom, just as the founding fathers did. I offer help to those that want to be free.
Hating me will do nothing to ease anyone’s Obumbo pains.
