As Worries Over the Power Grid Rise, a Drill Will Simulate a Knockout Blow
MATTHEW L. WALD, August 16, 2013
WASHINGTON The electric grid, as government and private experts describe it, is the glass jaw of American industry. If an adversary lands a knockout blow, they fear, it could black out vast areas of the continent for weeks; interrupt supplies of water, gasoline, diesel fuel and fresh food; shut down communications; and create disruptions of a scale that was only hinted at by Hurricane Sandy and the attacks of Sept. 11.
This is why thousands of utility workers, business executives, National Guard officers, F.B.I. antiterrorism experts and officials from government agencies in the United States, Canada and Mexico are preparing for an emergency drill in November that will simulate physical attacks and cyberattacks that could take down large sections of the power grid.
They will practice for a crisis unlike anything the real grid has ever seen, and more than 150 companies and organizations have signed up to participate.
This is different from a hurricane that hits X, Y and Z counties in the Southeast and they have a loss of power for three or four days, said the official in charge of the drill, Brian M. Harrell of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, known as NERC. We really want to go beyond that.
One goal of the drill, called GridEx II, is to explore how governments would react as the loss of the grid crippled the supply chain for everyday necessities.

Have you not heard of PowerFilm's
Portable Remote Power ?
They're thin, flexible Solar Panels and are extremely light.

You ( Marcella ) said, Isnt the estimate that over 90% of the population will die the first year if the grid is down?
Remember:
" ... But yet in it ~ shall be a tenth,as a teil tree, and as an oak,~ whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves:so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof. "

WHY ? So they'll have
another crisis they can use as a
"Trojan Horse" to further their
VILE agenda.
Thanks for that addition link of condemning evidence ~ that the Obama minions ARE ~ doing it INTENTIONALLY in order to "Collapse the System" !

I have a solar panel and charger strong enough to recharge my many rechargeable batteries in a reasonable length of time and it’s strong enough to recharge my Kindle and cell phone (which won’t work if power is out). With power outages after a hurricane, I have two older phones that plug directly in the phone jack in the wall and they work. My power needs are met. Losing power won’t affect me very much except for air conditioning but I will have working fans.
If you are suggesting hospitals could have these light weight panels, they won’t have them.

If you are talking about the November drill, they are not turning off the power, they are assuming it is off. I think your tin foil hat is a little tight.

If the power goes down for more than 6 hours, most of those batteries backing up the power in those cell phone towers go dead, and that's IF they're fairly fresh.
Some have backup generators to power them and fuel such as LPG or diesel to run them for about 24 hours.
After than, even if your phones have power, they probably won;t get a connection.
I'm only suggesting those panels for individuals and if they're not shielded during the "blast"; if they're in use at that time, then they'll probably get "Fried" .

You obviously have NOT worked for the government very much.
Accidents DO happen, and I wouldn't put it past this EVIL scum to INTENTIONALLY have that "accident" and really shut the nation's power grid off.
Then they'll 'claim' that all those email and data the Congress wants on Benghazi, the IRA, Fast and Furious, and every thing else Congress is investigating, ~ got wiped out and their computers got "Fried" during the "accident".
Yes, they're that EVIL !

“If the power goes down for more than 6 hours, most of those batteries backing up the power in those cell phone towers go dead, and that’s IF they’re fairly fresh.”
I think you have misinformation. When power goes off, cell phones don’t work, period. After every hurricane when power goes out, cell phones don’t work - been through that over and over. My older plug in the wall phones did work.
“I’m only suggesting those panels for individuals and if they’re not shielded during the “blast”; if they’re in use at that time, then they’ll probably get “Fried” .”
Now, it appears you are talking about an EMP blast. A study by scientists for the government tested what an EMP blast would do. Anything not plugged in to power had no damage. Devices plugged in were damaged.
They also tested cars and trucks and ambulances. A few cars/trucks turned off but started again just fine and most did not turn off. With an ambulance, the only thing that happened was a computer for medical data turned off but turned right back on with no damage.
An EMP event caused by a nuclear blast is regional unless it is over the central part of the US. In other words, if it is near the west coast, damage stops before it gets to the east coast. The damage field is more in the shape of an umbrella. If the EMP event is caused by a solar discharge, it goes in a straight line right into the power grid and takes it all out and anything plugged in is fried. If it isn’t plugged in, it is fine.
This was all in the scientists’ report and I posted this information on FR months ago. Most people have no idea how these various kinds of damage happen so they believe anything anyone says. That is why I researched it to find out what truly happens.

Re-read
comment #58.
My brother currently works for a security company has the contracts to replace some of those batteries that are backing up most of those cell phone towers, and most of the Security-Alarm Systems in banks and hotel Fire-Alarm Systems.
EMP "blasts'' can damage, often wipe-out, solar panels when they are in use at the time of the blast.
By being in use, they ARE powered up and supplying power to either a charger or appliances.
If the "blast" happens with them "powered up", then they'll be damaged or destroyed (Proven at Kwajalein Atoll).

My brother currently works for a security company has the contracts to replac all by itselfe some of those batteries that are backing up most of those cell phone towersI was out exploring one of those crannies you can find in a city and ran into a cell phone antenna kinda nailed to a water tower. It was sitting there with its butt hanging out, gated on one side and totally open to about a half a million people on the other. (If they were willing to bushwhack a half a mile) It had an expensive looking mini container looking thing under it. Not even one no trespassing sign. Sort of random don't ya think?

“My brother currently works for a security company has the contracts to replace some of those batteries that are backing up most of those cell phone towers,”
You can tell your brother they don't work after a hurricane takes out power. No cell phone works and people don't understand why my house phone still works - it's because that one plugs directly into the wall. My son called me from England after Ike came through and my house phone plugged into the wall worked. No cell phone worked.
I don't plug in the charger to the solar panel unless I'm recharging batteries so the greater part of the time the solar panel has nothing attached to it, no reason to have the charger plugged in. An EMP from a nuclear blast “might” damage it if the charger was attached and batteries in the charger, but an EMP from the sun would not harm it as the charge goes directly into the grid and not into anything outside the grid.
You believe whatever you want and I'll believe the scientists who did the tests and have the knowledge to differentiate between the types of incoming EMPs.

Those "landline" phones will only work as long as they have power.
When the batteries run out of power, normally a major junction box or "hub" that belongs to the phone company, they no longer have power to "boost the currency' coming from the phone company's home station, where it either receives its power from the power company, (and is backed up by a generator (normally LPG or some other fuel).
Once that power is no longer received, the phone lines go dead, until power is restored. I disagree about solar panels. When the EMP "charge" crosses the photocell while it's active or charging, it overloads it and damages it. (Again, proven at Kwajalein Atoll, years ago. My brother was there.)

It wouldn't surprise me.
You be surprised just how easy it is to get into the F.F.A.'s RADAR and NEXRAD Weather antenna systems that are normally on a high hill or mountain top.
But they do have "No Trespassing" Sign.

"I watched your Power Film commercial."
???
Obviously you did NOT watch it,
because
"PowerFilm's Solar Panels" is NOT what
Take Back Your Power Film: Smart Grid And Smart Meters Exposed is about.
But rather it's a "Film" about "Take Back Your Power"
and the dangers of "trusting the government" with the "Smart Grid And Smart Meters", measuring
and controlling the electricity coming into your house.
You really need to watch and LISTEN to it, and
heed the warning.

Of course I watched it, I wouldn’t say I did if I didn’t. I know about smart meters and how they can be manipulated. I don’t have one and won’t have one. Toward the end, these solar panels are shown/promoted.
Our conversation is over.

You're not a person who watches much "YouTube" , are you?
That so-called advertisement is to subscribe to that "Channel" on "YouTube" .
"PoweFilm" Solar Panels is a totally different organization.
I agree.
Our conversation is over.
