I haven’t been following this particular election, but you can pretty much expect 3rd parties to run against GOPe.

McAwful has promised three “Republicans” jobs in his administration so they endorsed him.

Thanks Maelstorm.

Robert Sarvis is a fraud (Virginia “Libertarian” candidate doesn’t support tax cuts, etc.)

McAwfull has about ten times the funds that Cuccinelli has—McA’s running TV ads up the kazoo.

Start the avalanche of contributions to Ken....he needs to run last minute-ads to get over the top.

you are absolutely right.....work the local elections, work in the primaries but in the main elections, never ever give the rats a win wrapped in so called "conservativism" or "constitutional" or "libertarian" flag.....

I never donate to the pub party...but I'll never enable a rat, ever....

Sarvis is a disgrace and so are his so called followers....

I would guess that Sarvis will not get anywhere near 13. That is good for KC. He might actually be winning.

Sarvis is no libertarian. Sarvis is a progressive moonbat running as a libertarian.

this election the books have been cleaned of voters who have registrations in more than one state and are deceased

That is huge!!! Dems have been killing us with snowbirds voting in NY & FLA whatever. That and plain fraudulent absentee ballots.

Congrats VA, good work!

Sarvis should drop out, but he won’t.

Why is it these third-party types only run against conservatives but never against RINOs?

CNU poll gives McAuliffe 7-point lead over Cuccinelli: Sarvis hurting Cuccinelli

With just five days before Virginia voters head to the polls, Democrat Terry McAuliffe is leading Republican Ken Cuccinelli by 7 points in the race for governor, 45 percent to 38 percent, according to the latest survey of likely voters conducted by the Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University.

Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis is also polling at 10 percent, a substantial draw for a third-party candidate, who appears to be pulling more than two-thirds of his support from voters disaffected with their major party choices in the race, according to Quentin Kidd, director of the Wason Center.

Doesn’t matter what Sarvis thinks...matters what those 13% supporting him think. If they are limited government libertarians, they’ll likely take Ron Pauls advice and vote Cooch. If they are just pro dopers or anti Christian types, they’ll probably stay with Sarvis….

Loved your book.

I think it's more complicated than you say above, though. The Democrats have been very, very successful with sex as an issue. By this I mean, they can almost make any Republican who has ever said anything about birth control, abortion, or gays radioactive for the 5-7% of the electorate who are strongly libertarian but who don't care much about weed and who, prior to the War on Women™, were winnable by the GOP.

I haven't followed the VA race closely enough to know if Cuccinelli is really interested in what's in your pants and what you're doing with it, but that line of attack has been SO successful elsewhere that the Democrats are going to use it and use it until someone figures out how to beat it.

One hopes for the “3rd Party Fade” that sometimes happens in the final days - and in the voting booths.

I’d never heard of Starvis. Odd for a Libertarian to poll that high. I don’t believe that 10% will materialize in the real vote. Doesn’t matter, Cuccinelli will have to win by at least 5 points to overcome the margin of fraud out of a handful of dem stronghold counties in Northern VA.

I’ve seen it happen so many times. The Republican can be winning with nearly all precincts reporting, and the heavy democrat precincts will report in LATE at night with just enough “votes” to put them over them top. It’s so blatant, it would be funny if it were anything else.

If that is true, that should only cost the Democrat his votes.

Thanks for the comments on my book! Glad you liked it.

Also, you are on the money with your statements - in fact, I gave several radio interviews today about the Virginia race, and my main point was that McAuliffe had done everything he could to make it another war on women, instead of a referendum on Obama and Obamacare. The VA race in 09 where McDonnell beat Deeds by 13 points was an Obamacare election…and that’s what Cooch needs and what McAwful fears….

I would expect most Sarvis supporters to eventually break for Cuccinelli. If Sarvis is anywhere near 13%, most of those votes will end up with Cuccinelli, which means that McAuliffe is in BIG trouble...

“Sarvis is a true libertarian, he is strong on being pro-abortion, pro-drugs, pro-gay, etc. he is just weak on some of the economic parts of the libertarian agenda.”

You know, I sometimes feel bad about referring to LP members as “Liberaltarians,” but by your desciption of Sarvis that’s exactly what he is.
