This will be Cruz's first trip to the Palmetto State since the government shutdown. Earlier in the year, Cruz was the keynote speaker at the South Carolina GOP's annual Silver Elephant Dinner, which honored former South Carolina Senator and current Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint this year.
According to the Dallas Morning News, other speakers at the Columbia, S.C. event will include Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), "Houston preacher Laurence White, former congressman Bob McEwen and Don Wildmon, whose Mississippi-based American Family Association was instrumental in financing [Rick] Perrys pre-announcement prayer rally in Houston and appears to be providing funding for South Carolina and similar events in other states."

Ted Cruz Ping!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
I wish he would go into SC and endorse Lee Bright. That would get attention.
My friends in DC think Cruz is toxic. These are pretty conservative people but now stuck in beltway bubble. I can’t figure out how to convince them otherwise.
Constant, but kindly, sharing of information concerning Ted’s Policy position, YouTube articles showing what kind of man he is, etc.
They can be turned, it just takes patience.
You can’t. The beltway sucks IQ points the minute you cross the Potomac.
That's kinda what I drew from a talk by a Republican inside-the-beltway "expert" this week. I don't think he's "toxic" and I hope that he has a long career in Republican party politics -- but I'm not convinced he's electable in 2016.
Speaking of "toxic", one poll (Republican) http://www.conservativeintel.com/1030-conservative-intel-poll-of-scsen-and-fits-primary-2016/# has Christie leading.
Among Republican primary voters. In South Carolina. Amazing.
You “DC” friends are nothing more than “Pod People(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pod_People_(Invasion_of_the_Body_Snatchers)", get new friends.
If South Carolina was the most important primary state, Gingrich would be president now.
Cruz has said (there's a thread somewhere on FR) that he's not going to get into primary races.

I grew up around DC. I can tell you that we could solve the riddle of Unified Field Theory before convincing the glob of government minded people that inhabit the Beltway region to listen to reality.
DC has been one area, about the only area that the country has consistently grown economically over the years that Obama has been in office. DC-Northern VA-nearly All of Maryland have effectively only one industry and that is government.
Your friends are likely to be in government or one step removed but dependent on government in some way either contractually or dependent on the those that are.
Cruz to them reflects a danger to their way of life. And that is a good thing.
Rather than try and convince them, try smiling at them and letting them know that you are there for them when the Sh*t hits the fan, and it will.
I wouldn’t feel the least bit discouraged at that poll. Christie leads Cruz by 2% in a poll with a 3.77% swing. Christie has been on the seen for 4 or more years and a year ago no one outside of we Texans had any idea who Ted Cruz was. Add to that the fact Christie is imploding and it looks pretty good for Cruz....of course polls this early are worthless!!!
Ted Cruz Ping List... Yes, please!
You’re not convinced Cruz is electable, and you post a poll that shows Tub-o-$hit Christie leading?
Do various colored paint chips have different flavors?
It may not be the most important primary state but it's also far from the least important.
I had forgotten about the front end SC primary.
I would think Cruz would be a near lock there.
This should send shivers down the spine of the Christie/Cornyn wing of the party.....
