The official line from the White House, the State Department, and the Pentagon about the US response to the attack on our consulate in Benghazi has been that we didn’t have time to send in troops to fight the terrorists that were killing Americans. A new report from Washington Times reporter Rowan Scarborough undermines that argument, and once again raises the question about the lack of response. Two American commandos have received medals for fighting in Benghazi after volunteering to accompany five security contractors from Tripoli, and Scarborough wonders why the US didn’t mobilize other forces at the same time:

They flew a transport plane into an area Obama wasn’t sure was safe enough for our high tech, high speed fighter planes.

She didn't have to toe anything. She helped plan it and made sure there was virtually no security at that compound so that it could happen. Then afterward, she lied to the families to their faces, and tried to foment even MORE violence in Pakistan with that insane apology. She has American blood on her hands and I flat out accuse her of premeditated murder. And if anyone in congress had a penny's worth of spine, they would do the same.

I will never buy the ‘couldn’t make it there on time’ argument.

Ignoring the assets we may have had in Italy (because the administration says they weren’t equipped for the situation), lets look at the Rapid Deployment Force.

Its based in FT Bragg. They are continuously on alert. Their entire purpose is to respond to exactly this type of situation. They may not have made it in time...but why weren’t they even sent? If nothing else, they could have secured the scene afterwards. I just don’t understand it.
