WASHINGTON – US State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki responded Wednesday to Israel's announcement of building 1,500 units in east Jerusalem saying "We do not consider continued settlement activity or east Jerusalem construction to be steps that create a positive environment for the negotiations."

At no time in the course of pursuing negotiations toward a two-state solution have we condoned settlement activity or east Jerusalem construction," she added.

Psaki stressed the importance of the peace talks and the need to resolve the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. She added that releasing prisoners is a difficult but necessary step to guarantee an agreement.

The State Department Spokesperson also addressed prisoner release, saying it "is a difficult but necessary step to help ensure the success of talks. There are steps that have been taken by both sides in that regard. The talks are continuing, and they – both sides remain committed to the nine-month time frame."

So I wonder, when Israel will insist on the US stopping construction in the District of Columbia?

When will Israel move its embassy to Philadelphia
and refuse to locate it in DC, until the US
recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and
moves the US embassy there from Tel Aviv?

What’s “East Jerusalem?” Is it part of Jerusalem, the capitol of the Sovereign State of Israel?

Does Israel need the blessing of the United States to undertake construction projects in its capitol city?

What about the Right to Self-Determination? Is this gunboat diplomacy? Are we now all Ugly Americans?

She seems to fit the definition of a “political prostitute”. Power mad and willing to do anything to get it.

How she can spout that crap at the State Dept. is beyond comprehension, unless she is Obama-crazy, delusional and truely hates America?

I think that’s the answer. One of Obama’s mindless clones who has no integrity, no morals, no soul.

Does the US have sovereignty over East Jerusalem???

Maybe we should mind our own business and let Israel mind theirs.

The affirmative action Hitler, Barack HUSSEIN Obama, has spoketh! As typical for the affirmative action Hitler, Obama is leading from behind to kill another six million Jews via the object of his adoration, a nuclear armed Iran.

The next Republican congress and POTUS should make things abundantly clear to Israel that as soon as they are in office in the US, Israel should immediately take all of Jerusalem. No Paleo owns any property any more in Jerusalem.

Then they need to immediately nationalize all Holy sites in Israel and declare them to be Israeli property, with no other national or religious claims to ownership accepted. And while providing generous lease terms to those who use them, let them know that their use is entirely conditional on good behavior.

If they do both these things immediately, they will have a minimum of two years of Republican support for things to settle down. But they cannot procrastinate, they must act immediately.

Their insurance to the nationalization is that if any state attacks Israel over these claims of ownership, those holy sites may be forfeit. As in bulldozed, if the Israelis choose to do so. And this includes the al-Asqa mosque.

I wish it were that simple. Bush also backed off the claim of making Jerusalem the capital of Israel. The answer is that all Jews must speak with a clear voice on this. No one can stand against that.

I think that this is a sort of dance between the administration and Netanyahu.

Netanyahu makes a public stink about Iranian Nukes.-

Kerry comes back and makes a nasty comment against Israel after.

Then the U.S. is silent while Germany and other EU nations force Israel to attend the Jew-hating UN Human Rights meeting.

Israel makes a public announcement that it will build in East Jerusalem.

Now the state dept. responds.

A capitol is a building...

Oh man. Embarrassing. Thanks for correction.

I think it's also the decorative work that is at the top of a pillar or column.
