The ObamaCare Awakening
Wall Street Journal ^ | October 30, 2013 | Editorial

For all of the Affordable Care Act's technical problems, at least one part is working on schedule. The law is systematically dismantling the individual insurance market, as its architects intended from the start.

The millions of Americans who are receiving termination notices because their current coverage does not conform to Health and Human Services Department rules may not realize this is by design. Maybe they trusted President Obama's repeated falsehood that people who liked their health plans could keep them. But Americans should understand that this month's mass cancellation wave has been the President's political goal since 2008. Liberals believe they must destroy the market in order to save it.

The political problem for the White House is that these choices are a threat to ObamaCare. If too many people keep these policies instead of joining the government exchanges, ObamaCare could fail. HHS has thus reviewed the decisions of people in the individual market and found them wanting. HHS believes as a matter of political philosophy that everyone should have the same kind of insurance, and in the name of equity it wrote rules dictating the benefits that all plans must cover and how they must be financed.

ACA was about one thing and one thing only, building a voting block of the dependency class. Thanks to Negronomics, this class of people has grown the past 6 years. ACA is a freebie for them, so the bigger the pool, the more votes.

Govmn’t don’t care if you are healty, just healthy enough to drage your body to the polls and vote for the “you be owed” party

Millions of cattle do not realize they're walking down a one-way chute either.

"ACA is a freebie for them."

Not so fast. You forgot the deductible which will be very high for the so called FREE plan. . . .

Bingo! It's such a scam. Taxpayers will help you pay your premium but the first $X,000 of medical care is on you, and then there is the coinsurance.

Red meat.

The communists need to destroy the healthcare insurance system to replace it with single payer. Nothing short of that will satisfy them. Dem politicians fell on their sword to pass this pile of garbage. They knew they were going to take a beating over this implementation. They also know Americans are stupid, left leaning and controlled by the MSM. They could have delayed the implementation if they thought it would hurt them in the 2014 elections. So, here’s what’s unfolding...

Implement a flawed Obamacare. You can’t ignore it, you can’t hide it, people will see it, so let the frenzy happen in Fall 2013. Americans don’t have the memory or attention span for this to be a dominant issue in the Fall of 2014. So, let the media pile on. Depict Obamacare as the disaster it really is.

By summer 2014, there will be progress with the website and the law. It won’t be fixed, but it will be better. The media can then circle the wagons, hail it as a heroic effort, and the bad guys in the Obamacare mess will be Republicans and the insurance companies. Republicans for being their mean selves, and not giving the people the healthcare that is their “right”. The insurance companies because they are evil, greedy capitalists. The lingering Obamacare problems will be blamed on the bad guys, and single payer is the obvious answer to all problems.

It’s over.

Speaking of scams, perhaps someone can enlighten me on Mediscare - Part D. Specifically, I am wondering if there is a possibility that the part D premium will eclipse a person's Social Security benefit? I'm not near the age to collect but was wondering if this would be part of the plan, as well - your ‘benefit’ gets chewed up by the healthcare premium that Mediscare doesn't cover......

Even if it crashes and burns, they will have achieved the key Democrat objective of massively (and permanently) swelling the Medicaid rolls.

They have the tactic correct in that the millions losing their health insurance was by design...it is the strategy they have wrong. This is the collapse folks, by design of this administration or other powers attached to the government. Launching a website that had as much importance as this knowing it would not function was not an accident, nor a misstep, it is a tactic...as well as sabotaging the grandfather clause that was in the law originally. As is the Saudi Arabia cut in diplomatic ties, the Chinese selling off unsecured T notes at historic levels, as is the cut in food stamps, as is the shutting down of veterans memorials during the government “shutdown”. Actions speak louder than words guys...don’t go by what they say as much as what they are doing...I do not think we have much time left...it is collapsing around us daily...wake up! Get good with God!

Yep, increase the size of the dependency class voting pool. All about the power and control, screw the country

That's called Medicaid. Those not eligible for Medicaid and receiving substantial subsidies for insurance so as to appear 'free' will be surpised by the deductibles that must be met before their coinsurance kicks in.

Yep and yep. Biggest scam perpetrated on the American people. Their website might not be *working* -- but, everything's going according to plan.

Who would have thought that "PERIOD." was Obama-speak for "Maybe, if we feel like allowing it."? A lot of libdiots are just finding this out.

Anything that can't be covered by the patient will be covered by the govt.

Is that why he moved Medicare $$$ to ACA? (I think I read that.)

I think he pulled 500 billion from it and moved it to ACA.

Like that 500b is “real” money
