Yeah, the interview is a setup. Bashir starts out stating “tea party is racist” as a fact, then gets to make himself reasonable by attacking Grayson for going to far, thus trying to make his original point look more legitimate.

It’s like if I said: “Skeeter, you are dead wrong! Just because Obama is a muslim doesn’t mean he’s a terrorist. How many suiciding bombings has he commited?”
