STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — Authorities say a woman was in stable condition after two dogs attacked her in Henry County.

Henry County police Sgt. Joey Smith said the woman was bitten as she walked her own dog in the Windsong Plantation subdivision in Stockbridge Thursday afternoon.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/HjPLkm) that she was flown to Atlanta Medical Center, where she underwent emergency surgery Thursday afternoon. Her name wasn't released.

Police said the victim's poodle was also attacked and taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.

Smith said both dogs involved were killed and rabies testing will be done on both animals. He said the dogs had been "roaming freely" in the neighborhood. Their owners were located after the attack, and it wasn't known whether charges would be filed.

Although this article doesn't say it, the dogs were (you guessed it) pit bulls. (dogs of peace who only have bad owners, and are otherwise always blameless) I hope they throw the owners under the jail.

In other news the owner of a pit bull that attacked a kid causing the kid to lose an arm is going on trial today. Hoping for significant jail time for her too. People who keep animals and who let them out to cause harm should be held criminally liable for the damage their pets do.

During the last couple of years pit bulls have become more common in Colombia. Very disturbing to many folks here where pets are loved. But then again the news hasnt reported many attacks.

A man in Panama City Florida was recently convicted of manslaughter after his two pit bulls, which were roaming the streets, attacked and killed a seven-year old neighborhood boy. This should happen more often to owners who do not control their pets IMHO.

I like that. If they cannot control their dangerous animal, they should be locked up. Put the idiot owners in a cage.

No mention of the breed of dog, but I’m betting it was those DAMN Irish Setters again.

Not in this article, but on the news last night they were identified as pit bulls.

Why not throw the owners in a cage with pit bulls owned by other bad owners.
