In addition to your daily dose of liberal invective, you will now get a monthly infusion of anti-Israel conspiracy on the New York Times opinion page.
Earlier this month, the New York Times announced that it had hired Egyptian novelist Alaa Al-Aswany to write a monthly column for the paper. But according to Egypt scholar Eric Trager of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Al-Aswany buys into the conspiratorial notion that a cabal of Jews controls American leaders.
Writing in the New Republic, Trager explains that Al-Aswany has been able to cultivate an image of himself in the West as an enlightened liberal who ardently opposed the dictatorial regime of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. But his more nefarious views have largely been hidden from the Wests view because Al-Aswany most often expresses them in Arabic, says Trager.
For instance, notes Trager, Al-Aswany declared earlier this year on Egyptian television that President Obama is prevented from go[ing] against Israels desire by a massive Zionist organization that rules America.
Al-Aswany also holds the bizarre conspiratorial view that the United States supported the virulently anti-Semitic and anti-Israel Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt in order to help Israel.

Thanks, I need a shot of whiskey after that.
LOL.
He’s a perfect fit with the NYSlimes.
How boringly typical.
The NYSlimes has a lot of Jewish readers.
Let’s see how this hater goes over with them.
Those readers will lap this crazy islamoNazi up. They’re the self-hating Jew type. Or they’d have stopped supporting/reading that paper years ago.
UGH.
I reckon you’re right.
It’s simple self-section in the free marketplace. Just like there are actually some Jews and Christians who support Obama despite his patent hatred for them. Self-hatred. An amazingly widespread phenomenon in America today. Did you happen to see the demo convention ? Appallingly anti-American views expressed there, even clearly in majority at times. Demo party definitely not the liberal but still mostly loyal party of the previous generation. Its been taken over by an extremist element seeking destruction of America’s liberties, economy, and defenses. Not much love of country there. That’s fir sure.
Aren’t they all ?
Received wisdom on the Arab street. Many still admire Adolf and his party.
A muzzlem novelist for a columnist. Now that sounds like the story line of a “new hit comedy” on TV.
You can find Mein Kampf in Arabic anywhere in the ME.
“O Hitler!”, the Arabs cry out, “O he of blessed memory who left this world with his greatest work unfinished!”
Egyptian novelist Alaa Al-Aswany... buys into the conspiratorial notion that a cabal of Jews controls American leaders... has been able to cultivate an image of himself in the West as an enlightened liberal who ardently opposed the dictatorial regime of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak... his more nefarious views have largely been hidden from the Wests view because Al-Aswany most often expresses them in Arabic...
Just the thing to boost the NYT’s falling circulation!
Better late than never :(
