This is outrageous.

In the old days these people would be recipients of charity from the Church and civic organizations.

I take that back...a lot of them would have been working. Because the debt was not large there were jobs. Only a minority would have been taking charity.

The number of people receiving Fed money is going to go up hugely with Obamacare.

Subsidies are going to be handed out right and left to people even in the middle class because they're being dropped by their insurance companies.

We keep screaming about “socialism is coming!” and don’t realize it’s already here.

Yes...it is here.

Our numbers aren't as bad as the European socialist countries...but they will be if this thing continues on its trajectory.

This situation is not sustainable. Politicians have been buying votes with other people’s money but we will soon reach a point (if we have not already got there) when there are not enough productive citizens to support the non-productive.

Socialism does not (and can not work).

Central control over the market place does not (and can not work).

Capitalism is what drives healthy economies. Rules, laws and regulations are killing capitalism in this nation.

Obamacare may be the thing that finally collapse the the great social utopia that the left wants to create.

As Betty Davis once said, “Hang on because it is going to be a bumpy ride”.

Social Security recipients aren’t moochers or takers. Any argument that tries to lump them in such a percentage for political points is going to be rejected by the American people.

I’m a little bit hesitant to lump sociable insecurity pensioners ( the regular kind of people who paid in) with those on the dole. True, they all receive govt cheques. But At least the pension folks paid into it. Regardless of any problems in the soc sec program, These pensioners really do deserve to be evaluated with this fact in mind and not viewed as just more “ takers.” What do u think?

“Social Security recipients aren’t moochers or takers. Any argument that tries to lump them in such a percentage for political points is going to be rejected by the American people.”

That’s what everybody says about their checks.

That’s why the 49% of the American people are going to keep getting those checks until there is no more money left to borrow.

Then everyone will be a moocher.

Those were the old days. There is now an entire lawyer specialty devoted to winning disability status, long before retirement age. I've lost count of all the people lately with Medicare who are otherwise healthy and in their early thirties these days.

The Maoists’ plan, hatched in the mid 60’s (”War On Poverty” indeed!) is on the verge of prevailing. That's why I'm firmly....unalterably....in favor of secession.Let the dozen or so states that regularly vote for Maoists have their own country,we'll have ours.

Well, I’ve paid into social security since 1964 when I first started working, so I’ve earned the social security check when I retire...It definitely isn’t a “gift”....

Counting social security recipients is a bit misleading since they were forced at the point of a gun to “contribute” to the ponzi scheme.

There are two categories of SS recipients...ordinary folks who paid into SS and started collecting benefits in their 60's....and there are the parasites who now,it would appear, outnumber the "ordinary" folks (of whom I am one).

2011 was a lifetime ago when it comes to government benefits. nobama has been pushing this like there’s no tomorrow. I suspect the total is now over 49%.

Which brings up an interesting political quandry: how do you compete with Santa Claus?
