Gun sales booming on Instagram

The gun market is booming on Instagram.

The popular photo-posting app – bought last year by Facebook for $1 billion – has become the go-to place for folks looking to buy and sell firearms on the Internet, boasting a web of private owners and professional dealers with shotguns, handguns and assault rifles for sale on the open market, according to a report by The Daily Beast.

Instagram is not an e-commerce site, and has no stated policy barring firearm sales.

Users of the app can readily find “a chrome-plated antique Colt, a custom MK12-inspired AR-15. tricked out with `all best of the best parts possible,` and an HK416D .22LR rifle’’ by combing search words and hashtags, like #rifle, #ar15 or #forsalegun, the report noted.

“LWRC 10’ SBR FOR SALE!!! Come get it!” reads one recently-posted Instagram ad. “Includes AAC suppressor tip, ergo grip, 3 magpul pmags, 2 40 round mags, bungee sling and about 500 rounds of .556.Message me if interested.”

Potential deals are openly discussed in the Instagram comments section.

I have an AR15 pistol, 11.5 barrel with CMMG piston kit, tuned to run like a pussycat, for sale. Taking it to the next Gun Show in my area. Have sold two on previous occasions. Yes, I built it, and it has a New Frontier lower and two twenty round mags. HAs a red dot on it right now, with backup iron sights (magpul pop-ups), because I love to play with it at the range. But with ammo so hard to find at a reasonable price, I seldom put more than one mag through it per visit. So, what are you looking for?

An interesting tidbit, one night I typed in AR-15 and it was basically glorious people of color posing with their gats. Of course many of them are little but racists and their race trumps gun and self defense rights but there is potential to wean them away from hating whitey and dreaming of their racial torchlight parades and to American culture.

I saw the value of the AR15 pistol years ago. That's a smart gun. As such, I have one already.

What kind of ammo do you find to be the most functional out of that short barrel? I have a similar Bushmaster pistol. When I first got it, I fired M855 ball 62 grain projectiles out of it and they key holed terribly. I'm thinking that a lighter 40 grain V-max projectile would stabilize better.

I haven't shot it in a couple of years on account of ammo turning into gold as it did but I want to find the right load for it now and stockpile plenty of it.

I have an 11.5 inch barrel on the piston driven pistol. The barrel is a heavy barrel but not a bull barrel. I find just about any 55 gr bullet functions fine ... after I tuned the recoil buffer spring to function flawlessly. To do that, take 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn from the coil of the end all the way in the tube (not where the buffer rides inside the spring). I use a dremel cutting wheel, rather than pinching the metal off.

One other trick for AR pistols is to cut a piece of shop-vac tubing to slip over the buffer tube so the whole rests further back, atop your shoulder, where you can get a good cheek purchase on the extended tube without hunching down. Do not butt the tube against your shoulder ... you are inviting the ATF goon squad to cite you for an unregistered SBR.
