As far as I am concerned when a federal agent “asks” for something he is, in effect, demanding it.

Not if you know your rights. Asking a question by a Federal Officer and then being proven the answer is a lie is an offense that is punishable.

Asserting your rights is not. You’re too willing to assume Federal Agents always are within “their” rights. They are not.
