Of all the bitter fruit of the Barack Obama disaster, the most bitter may be the sense of hopelessness that has descended on Americans, especially the young. Has there ever been anything like it in our history? Even on the eve of the Civil War, was there this much pessimism about our future? Gallup wasnt around in those days, but I wonder.
For a simple measure of how the Obama administration has crushed any sense of hopefulness in the American people, take a look at the survey that Rasmussen Reports does periodically on whether Americas best days are behind her, or still in the future. Its a great question that tells a lot about how Americans are feeling.
Rasmussen last asked the question before Barack Obama took office in August 2008, while the presidential campaign that resulted in Obamas election was in progress. The result:
45% of voters think Americas best days lie ahead, while 37% think they have come and gone.
That was after nearly eight years of the supposedly disastrous Bush administrationwhich, by the way, looks more like a golden age every day, compared with what has followed.
Fast forward to today, after nearly five years of the Obama administration. How are Americans feeling about the future?
31% of Likely U.S. Voters think Americas best days are still to come Just over half (52%) think the nations best days are in the past.
So the Age of Obama has brought the percentage who think Americas best days are still ahead down from 45% to 31%, while the number who think our best days are gone has risen from 37% to 52%. Great work, Barry. This is your true legacy: hopelessness.

Yes. You’re right. I see plenty of good, moral people around me. Americans aren’t all statist drones. Consider the Steven Lonegan senate race. Booker received slightly more than 700,000 votes, but Lonegan received nearly 600,000 votes. This was in New Jersey which is supposedly and ultra-blue stronghold. Even in this bluest of blue states, about 45% of the voters voted AGAINST big government (Lonegan didn’t hide the fact that he was a staunch conservative, i.e. opponent of Obamacare, etc.)
So it’s really that close. The left may hold a lot of cards, but we’re not out by a long shot. Even if the Democrats manage to fundamentally transform America, conservatives will do fine. We’re may be self reliant during normal times, but we’re also the type of people who come together during crises. Conservatives help each other. Liberals run to government for their solutions.
What the Democrats don’t know is we win this either way. They can’t produce what they promise, and if they succeed in bankrupting the country, conservatives will pick up the pieces like we’ve always done. Those who are dependent on EBT cards or are highly paid bureaucrats living in the fantasy land that’s D.C.? Eh, they’re not likely to thrive in their brave new (dysfunctional) world. Shoot. The EBT holders aren’t exactly thriving right now.
One would think at least blacks would be happy, or at least happier, but they're more bitter and angrier than ever.
On the East Coast, from Wilmington in the south to Bangor in the North and about 100 miles inland. We'll call it "East Libtardistan."
On the West Coast, from the southern border of LA county to the northern border of Marin County, and from inland to about the crest of coastal mountains, or about 40 miles. We'll call it "West Libtardistan."
We'll move all registered Democrats remaining in the United States to one of the 'Stans. The litmus test for whether one is an American or not will turn on whether they voted for BHO in 2012. This phase of the plan will be called "Operation Boxcar."
The United States will be a far healthier organism, being purged of its parasites. Plus, we'll get to sit back and gloat as the Democratic Coalition actually gets to share the same polity. It will be fun watching aging Marin County self-righteous hippies pulled from the Chevy Volts and robbed by their coalition partners from Detroit.
Break out the popcorn.
Discuss!
Yabut...
What about Chicago?
Wasn’t it the “youth vote” that helped bring this communist to power?
Hey kids! Elections have consequences!
They’re moving to East Libtardistan. I suggest the former Rhode Island. It’s almost pure libtard there. Democrats so richly deserve each other.
I was thinking maybe you’d say; Move them all into Lake Michigan.
Ha! Not a bad idea. Certainly, Lake Michigan is much closer and the logistics no doubt far simpler. But, that might be going too far. No, I say load them on buses, Rhode Island bound.
Well, we could add a few more buses to the convoy and pick up the remaining stragglers in Detroit.
The Clown will be discredited by history. A feckless ideologue who wasted 8 years of time. Worst occupier of the WH evah.
He accomplished what he set out to do. He is a bitter angry man who hates America, but enjoys his personal wealth gotten from our beautiful country.
Done!
And that's another reason that amnesty for illegal aliens is so important. They need to boost the number of people who are directly reliant on government.
The feeling of hopelessness is the means to an end. The end of America as we've known it. To force a "fundamental transformation."

In the aggregate, Obama determines how much and where money is spent, what the law is, and how his law is enforced. Add a compliant federal court system to uphold his outrages, and I'd say his hold on executive, legislative and judicial authority is just about complete.
You counsel to “dust ourselves off, and continue the fight.” If you mean we should continue to pretend voting in national elections can restore republican freedom, I don't see how that can happen. Obama stole the 2012 election, and the machinery is in place to ensure the rats never lose another.
BINGO,God help us all
BINGO,God help us all
I agree. At this point secession is the only answer. Most conservatives are in denial about that. But if we leave aside the emotions, it’s clear that we have no other option as our republic has been transformed into a “democracy” and we’re now a minority in our own country. Libtards are concentrated on the coasts. We need to expel the coasts and move the remaining Libtards there. That’s it. The sooner we can accept that this geographical solution is the only realistic option that we have, the sooner we can move forward with the winning our freedom back.
Don’t think it’s going back. Too many have bought into the “Me-me-me” meme (just made that one up). Too many look to the government to solve problems (Road to Serfdom and all that).
“Even on the eve of the Civil War, was there this much pessimism about our future?”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I wasn’t around then either but I think the answer is certainly NO. There was not nearly so much pessimism about the future simply because the average person had grown up dealing with real hardship. Now we have millions who have grown up depending on the government and without parents who teach them how to cope with hard times. There was also a HIGHER level of CLASSICAL education in those days.
