"DALLAS Footage from a surveillance camera pointed at the street where officers shot a mentally ill man in the abdomen earlier this week shows the man never walked toward police nor raised a knife to them, disputing a police officers narrative provided in a sworn affidavit."

The man was obviously THINKING about raising the knife - must be a good shoot.
I would have been glade to jump in and have an open discussion about the subject. However ... the first thing I see is your “any bootlickers care to chime in” challenge and immediately know were this conversation will be going ...
Opting out before I even begin and leave the rest of the thread to the “cop haters” as my counter proposal.
My respect for LEO’s went by the wayside long ago. They have overstepped their authority. Screw them.
The important thing is the police got to go home to their wives and chiiiiiiiidren.
Any bootlickers care to chime in?
No all I can do is quote good old Gomer Pyle “ Surprise Surprise Surprise!”
The problem is there is way to much of this kind of thing going on. Way to many bad apples on the police forces these days. I know there are a lot of good policemen trying to do their jobs but these clowns are making it bad for all on the force. They need to be weeded out.
With few exception ,probably a small fraction of 1%, I have no problems with police officers doing their jobs. Even when it may seem brassy to a lot of people. The problem I see is the training mantra police receive ,that teaches one life is far more valuable than another. Personal safety at the cost of others? It is taught not only in law enforcement but also in fire department and EMS training.
Obviously he had a high capacity assault dog with bayonet lug, folding collapsible ears, flash suppressor, and detachable magazine clips concealed on him that was revealed only by use of magic sunglasses!
Those evil concealed assault dogs!
/ semi joking.
He was shot for existing while mentally unstable during the exercise of police power under color of authority while the police themselves were unstable.
These are the ones the state is developing training programs to feverishly heel them in as the new crop. Forget the weeding them out idea. They want non-cerebral, group think plagued, gullible, steroid infused morons as today’s cops. They want brownshirts who can’t understand the need to question authority. Blind loyalty celebrated by bullies with guns and immunity from actions.
As a former police officer, decision have to be made, many within a split second. Most police officers put in that situation make the right decision.
Training is so important to making a decision with "No Hesitation"...
They’ll taze an 85 year old women before they attempt to restrain her. It’s now all about their own safety and not those they are suppose to “serve and protect”.
If they want safe jobs they shouldn’t become police officers.
The police officers will get away with it even now...Unless the evidence is indisputable, and it can’t be swept under the rug.
Calling someone to come to you(an unknown and thus dangerous person by default) who is armed with guns, tazers, pepper spray, clubs, and municipal attorneys who issue them exemption from actions waivers, are not going to improve your situation.
Think of your dog's opinion and welfare before you call the suicide by cop squads.
Did you also get training to lie? Cops seem to do that really well.
“As a former police officer, decision have to be made, many within a split second. Most police officers put in that situation make the right decision.”
It is not a split second decision to lie on a police report. It is a criminal conspiracy.
I really think the thin blue line is what is making the public view the police as the enemy. The shooter in the case was willing to lie and his partner was willing to lie too.
The breed of cop you were/knew no longer exists.
The police are out of control. Even the Park Service is out of control
The neighbor with the video camera didn't even think the victim was holding the knife. He said that after they talked, the victim had the knife and a tobacco pouch on the ground near where he was sitting in the chair. After the asswipe cop shot him at close range, the cop can be observed kicking at an object on the ground, presumably a knife that wasn't even being held by the victim. The cop definitely lied about the victim's movements, and perhaps lied about the victim holding a knife. Even if he held a knife, no reason to shoot the man because there was some distance between them. That cop needs to be hung.
