LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives Tuesday continued their efforts to find the suspect wanted for planting dry ice bombs around Los Angeles International Airport.

One dry ice bomb exploded and two plastic bottles containing the dangerous material were found around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Tom Bradley International Terminal in a restricted area, Los Angeles Police Department Det. Gus Villanueva said.

No one was injured, and no flights were delayed.

Airport police and a bomb squad cleared the items around 9:45 p.m

On Sunday, a dry ice device exploded inside an employee bathroom at LAX’s Terminal 2. No injuries were reported in that incident.

In both instances, the bombs were left in an area of the airport that require special clearance for access.

Expect dry ice to be the next item on the terrorism restriction list.

Dry ice is already on the EPA pollutant list. Soon, consumers will be fined for using it.

What, pray tell, is a dry ice bomb and what is it supposed to do? I can see dry ice being used as, say, a detonator. But I can't see it generating a very powerful explosion in and of itself.

So the bomber probably has some kind of security clearance or badge?

Dry ice bombs would probably not be that dangerous. Is it possible some concerned person is trying to point out the weaknesses in TSA security?

Need to make water bottle free zones. Need to control water bottles. Need to register water bottles. Need to restrict large capacity water bottles. Why do people need water bottles anyway?

Dry ice in a 2 liter plastic bottle will exceed the bursting pressure of the bottle, and the bottle explodes with a loud “boom.” Not particularly dangeorus.

"So the bomber probably has some kind of security clearance or badge?"

If memory serves there was a very popular youtube video showing "how secure" areas requiring special access are/were.

The gub'ment had the video taken down and there was rumor that the video uploader was going to be charged with some bullshit terrorist law because he showed what a farce the whole airport security scam is.

As I see it, it could work in a glass bottle that wasn’t strong enough to contain the pressure of the C02 as the solid changed into a gas. That would depend on how much dry ice was used, the size and strength of the container, and the ambient temperature.

Never caught a terrorist in their lives, but they’re stripsearching girl scouts and hot on the trail of Mr. Fizzy.

How would John Wayne look in a TSA uniform?

Not particularly dangeorus.

During Y2K there was some doofus out there who was filling sections of 8" PVC pipe with rice and grains for storage, capping them after tossing some dry ice in to suffocate any varmints that might be living in there. When they blew it leveled his house.

dry ice: noun
1. solid carbon dioxide.

OH NO! We are all going to die.

I suspect the amount of CO2 exhaled by the passengers on one flight exceeded the CO2 from one Dryice bomb. Breathing contains deadly material, the liberals who make this crap up should just stop breathing. Environment killing hypocrites.
