700,000 people a day would have been visiting the parks and that the surrounding areas are losing $76 million in visitor spending per day.
The park service said it is losing $450,000 per day in revenue from entrance fees and other in-park expenditures, such as campground fees and boat rentals.

I wonder if the American populace is paying attention. There is an object lesson here.
The encroachment of the Federal Government into every aspect of our lives is plainly being played out here for all to see. What part of..{they are taking your money and saying that you have no vested interest in your own country}...don’t people understand?
These Parks and Wilderness areas do not belong to the politicians in Washington, DC. The USA citizens own those Monuments, Parks and Wildernesses. We have paid for them for years and compliantly sat back, like sheep, and watched the Feds regulate our access to them.
Every Park Ranger that participated in Obama’s directive, “To inflict as much pain as possible” on the American People, should be fired. Everyone of them should submit their resignations.
It time to put a stop to this expansive Government intrusion into our lives...hopefully, it isn’t too late.
During the time of slavery, many an escaped slave used the Cuyahoga River as their escape route, hoping to get to Lake Erie and then across to Canada. Well, many got to the Lake but not across. That is why the east side of Cleveland has one of the largest and oldest concentrations of descendents of slaves in the US. Now, that freedom trail along the Cuyahoga is a national park, forever preserved as a reminder of the path those escaped slaves took to freedom. That's right, folks. Obama (who isn't a descendent of slaves) closed access to that powerful symbol of freedom.
Ya' think maybe Destiny (the girl's name...honest) got that message to Representative Fudge? She represents those Cleveland area descendents of those brave and determined slaves who made their way to freedom. <^..^>
Hick went to Estes Park yesterday where he caught grief from the locals about RMNP being closed. The road over the park can be used by tourists and truck conveyors for heavy equipment to rebuild other roads from the Estes side.
He promised to call 0 to get the road [ at least ] reopened so that tourists might support Estes financially.
With a third state Senate recall in the works [ which could cost the DUmmies the state Senate soon ] 0 folded ?
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
They drive over rough terrain and puncture gas tanks
Make 'em WALK out from where they "took their stand"
Rocky Mountain National Park was the only way out of Estes Park during the recent flooding. There is only one way out of Estes Park with the RMNP closed. Don’t expect much form Chickenpooper outside of the typical lying liberal rhetoric.
Good luck with that, USA blacks are not generally NPS supporters, you will not find many of them in a park unless it is an urban area.
Spot on. That can be the first order of business, once we take the Congress back in 2014.
Hick, Bloomberg, and other DU fools likely have secret polling from PP - like last time - that says the recall for #3 is gowning strong for us.
Hence, their panic.
Ya. And give the states back the revenues that go to the feds to run the parks.
If I were a Governor, I would call out my National Guard to take all the Park Rangers as hostages. I would then tell the Feds to STAY OUT if they want their Rangers to live.
don’t go....make the NPS go deep into further dept....they should be paid back handsomely for their nazi thug tactics, the little weasels...
I say we don’t pay the Feds to re-open anything.
If it’s their property and they can close them at will, then they can self fund, like the post office.
Do Not Pay them.
The GOP House should pass a bill to do just that. It’s perfect timing.
...and states are paying the unemployment *Benefits* of furloughed *unessential* Fed employees....who will get their back pay when and if this fiasco ends. HMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I’m always late and can’t say I am fully informed other than knowing the park closures are Obama’s attempt to hurt the people and make himself look good.
I did a bit of reading about National parks, wondered when the Fed took them over and it seems it began in 1916. I would say the states should take back their land but the Feds won’t allow it.
Are you familiar with UNESCO as World Heritage Sites?
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
I’ve read that 68% of American national parks, monuments, etc are included in a UN treaty called the Convention concerning protection of the World Cultural and National Heritage.
I know that all of that is beside the point being discussed, but I was unaware of it and thought it interesting.
