The new health-care exchanges created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, have been in the news lately. And not in a good way. The system has been overwhelmed with traffic and plagued by bugs. Who built the system? And why are they having so many problems? Read on to find out.

What do the Obamacare exchange websites do?

The exchanges are online marketplace where millions of Americans who don't receive health insurance from their employers will be able to purchase coverage. The system is designed to work like any other e-commerce site. Users can compare health insurance plans, choose the one that best meets their needs, and order it online.

How has it gone?

Not great. The system was overwhelmed with traffic on its first day. Since then, the site has become somewhat more responsive, but it is still plagued with problems.

[...]

The primary Obamacare exchange contract went to the CGI Group, a Canadian consulting company that has also played a role in administering Canada's single-payer health care system. CGI has been awarded at least $88 million by CMS to build the federal exchange and provide related technical support.

the websites don’t matter the program is the problem.

LSM is trying to change the conversation from Obamacare to websites.

The issue is Obamacare not websites.

What you need to know is that it’s not about healthcare, it never was. It’s about the government controls buried in Obamacare. “Healthcare” was the bait.

“glitch”????

This is a TOTALY FAILED DESIGN FROM CONCEPTION!!!

The REQUIREMENTS WERE NEVER DEFINED.

Because the internal inconsistencies of the law were never resolved, it was never possible to develop a compatible set of requirements.

Thus, NO DESIGN SOLUTION WAS POSSIBLE!!!

The day the Dims passed Obamacare I said it would crumble under its own weight and never go fully into effect. I still believe that.

Here's an old Boston political joke that gets to the heart of how the ObamaCare sites came to be:

It seems the town had decided to erect a statue to some bigwig and the job had been sent out for bids. Three bids had been submitted. Charlie Flaherty submitted one for $1000. Tom Finnerty had submitted one for $2000. And Billy Bulger submitted one for $3000.

The Town Council calls in the bidders to interview them. "Charlie, how did you arrive at your bid?" Charlie says "I've done such jobs before and I know the costs."

"Tom. And you?" Tom says "It's a complicated job and I wanted to leave room for allowances."

"And you, Billy? How did you get such a high figure?"

"Well, I figured $1000 for you, $1000 for me, and I'd have Charlie here build the statue."

Billy got the job.

Well, you are already right, since Obama has changed the law, on the Employer Mandate, since Congress repealed the LTC portions of the Act, with Obama’s signature, and since the Supreme Court rewrote the law to make it “legal”.

I was interviewed by CGI to QA the Massachusetts HIE.
I turned it down because the so-called QA Manager didn’t know what she was talking about.

what sort of CLUE to the reason for the failed design and implementation might we find in this statement?

The primary Obamacare exchange contract went to the CGI Group, a Canadian consulting company that has also played a role in administering Canada's single-payer health care system.

Is It POSSIBLE...that the firm that designed the SINGLE PAYER health system could easily have been commisioned specifically because they supported same..and were more than willing to design FAILUREZILLA for the purposes of FORWARDING the SIngle Payer Agenda?

MulberryDraw : The government spent $634 million on healthcare.gov website
Thank you for the clarification !

The $600+ million being spoken of is just the contract for the (Canadian) firm that developed the site.

I feel much better to know that the FED spent that money so wisely; $634 million instead of $44 million on an rock considered to be a website.
Elsewhere on that post states that by the time you add all the govt. operatives salaries, the cost would be around $1.6 BILLION .
OUTSTANDING !!
