Senate GOP to reject Reid plan to push debt limit until next year

Senate Republicans plan to block Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) bid to push the debt limit until Dec. 31, 2014, increasing the nation’s borrowing authority by an estimated $1.1 trillion.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), a pivotal centrist Republican, on Wednesday called Reid’s legislation “politically transparent.”

“We just do a clean increase for the next year to get us beyond the election? I’m sorry. We’re asking for transparency around here, but that’s about as politically transparent as anything I can think of,” she said.

The Senate Republican caucus now seems near unanimous that Reid is playing political games. And that likely blocks Reid’s plan to pass a clean 14-month debt-limit increase to put pressure on House Republicans to act.

You can't win in a deal with the devil.

He won't negotiate when he already owns your soul. Or need to.

The whole story is a lie.

A complete lie.

The Republicans are only blocking bringing it to the floor if they're not allowed to offer amendments.

Harry is afraid they'll offer amendments similar to measues in the House minibills. He can't allow his members to vote on such issues.

So he's killing the debt limit idea... and themedia is blaming Republicans for blocking it.
(Yes, DC is the funniest show there is.)

Obozo re raising the debt limit in 2006:

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

Hopefully they are finally seeing the pressure is really on the Rats. The longer the "shutdown" goes the more people outside DC realize most of what has been shut isn't needed, so why reopen it?

The next big pressure point will be obama saying he can't pay Social Security, or Medicare. He's been threatening default but China & Japan pretty much stopped that nonsense.

If these same mouth-breathers, now suddenly full of piss & vingegar, had stood w/ Cruz & Lee from the get-go, Reid would still be on the senate floor in the fetal position with soiled britches.

The truth is, the government does not own us.

No matter how this turns out.

They do not own us.

If our representatives actually represent us and we lose, or they don’t represent us and we lose., it makes no difference because they do not own us.

Even if they “win” they don’t own us.

We do not have to stand up to authority because we ARE the authority, we give our consent or revoke our consent to be governed.

I know, but until you get a majority who not only believe what you said, but also recognize that they don’t have a right to pick my pocket we won’t get there.

“if they’re not allowed to offer amendments”

Yep, because they can not get all their “pork” they want in the budget fiasco.....YET.

So they gonna try and tag it into the debt ceiling hike.

These long in tha tooth Senators got bills to pay, dontchaknow..

Instead of increasing the debt ceiling they should be reducing it and paying down debt

The “majority” is a relative term. Our founding fathers were certainly not in the majority.

We are the payers, the workers. That makes us the majority.

But we are also law abiding, peaceful citizens. All avenues will be searched for a solution.
