The United States will cut off aid to Egypt in the wake of the July coup against President Mohammed Morsi and the turmoil that has followed, a U.S. official told CNN on Tuesday.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the full suspension has been prompted by an “accumulation of events,” including recent violence against protesters, dozens of whom were killed over the weekend.

I seriously doubt this was in any, way shape or form Obama’s initiative. It was probably Rand and Cruz’s idea or something of that nature.
Actually, he’s quite unhappy the Muslim Brotherhood was routed there. I could easily see him pushing this retribution.

Well I had thought maybe Obama would want to give them aid in the hopes it ends up int he hands of the insurgents anyway, since for starters the military of Egypt, like the military of pretty much every Muslim nation, is bound to have at least some elements that are deeply supportive of and sympathetic to the jihadists.
But yes, I now do figure that Obama may simply be angry at Sisi for going after the MB. Either way, the bottom line is that he is hoping for a MB caliphate iN Egypt and that much is certainly clear.
