I do believe this is the first time in my entire 66 years on this earth that I had a hankering to be anywhere near Washington D.C.

I was very humbled to be there today. I shook the hand of a hundred true heroes. I was touched that men and women my age were escorting their fathers and mothers to see the World War II Memorial for the first time.

And yes, there were mothers who served in WWII — several came by in wheelchairs, most likely nurses.
