Watchdog Group Files Ethics Complaint Against Neugebauer Over WWII Memorial Incident
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal ^ | Friday, October 4, 2013 | Adam D. Young

A Washington, D.C. watchdog group filed an ethics complaint against U.S. Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Lubbock, for his spat with a park ranger at the National World War II Memorial earlier this week.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed a complaint Friday morning, Oct. 4, with the Office of Congressional Ethics against Neugebauer “for conduct that reflects discreditably upon the House,” according to a news release from the organization.

“Rep. Neugebauer’s mistreatment of a federal employee who was doing her job is disgraceful,” Melanie Sloan, the group’s executive director, said in a news release. “The blame for the government shutdown and the resulting closure of the memorials lies squarely on the shoulders of lawmakers like Rep. Neugebauer who refuse to fund our government.”

The group claims Neugebauer’s conduct violates House Rule 23, which requires all members of the House conduct themselves “at all times in a manner that reflects creditably on the House.”

“By publicly assailing a federal employee who was acting in accordance with the will of the House and attempting to coerce the ranger to allow access to the memorial — despite the fact that federal law requires its closure — Rep. Neugebauer abused his position,” the release states.

“Rep. Neugebauer’s demeaning treatment of the ranger reinforces the commonly held belief that members of Congress are arrogant and have an over-inflated sense of superiority,” Sloan said via the release. “The House cannot permit its members to berate federal employees for a government shutdown for which Congress is responsible. Rep. Neugebauer needs to be held accountable for his reprehensible conduct.”

Neugebauer and a spokeswoman for the Office of Congressional Ethics were not immediately available for comment Friday morning.

Who knew Clinton violated the law when he allowed open air memorials, including the Lincoln Memorial to remain open during the ‘95 shutdown.

Seems to me there is a case for a Federal Park Ranger attempting to violate 90 WWII vets first amendment rights.

I hope they file suit against Barky and the Nazi Ranger!

This is wild. Not hard to believe mind you, but here is a group of people who believe that they should have tossed WW2 veterans back on their bus and driven them back to where they came from.

What a pack of crapheads.

Typical of Democrat organizations. Filled up with fecal brained morons.

As Rush said, RATs are coming unhinged and showing the country who they really are and what they are. No words profane enough to describe them, IMO.

The Congressman must countersue.

The Memorial was built with private money. There is no reason for it to be closed at all, as it is an open, walk through type memorial.

BHO2 is just being a typical malevolent narcissist.

Am I the only one that gets error messages at the Lubbock Journal?
The direct link and even the main page are giving me “Access Denied” errors.

Or is the 0bama cyberwarfare team hacking the place?

How about THIS analogy? Obama is acting like George Wallace barracading the schoolhouse door to prevent American citizens from exercising their Constitutional rights! Call your Congressman with this point now! Bob

This a cynical, deliberate ploy to “’flip the script” and the focus off the real people being done wrong-the veterans. 90 yo men in wheelchairs being denied access to their own memorial after traveling miles by road, are victims. Her candy-azz after a 30 second non-violent contact is not, and if it is after that, she’s in the wrong job. What will she do when some libtard comes there to splash paint all over it?

Aw hell, let’s quit playing footsie and start the war and get it over with. Winner takes all with free extradition to anyone who wants to leave.

“CREW is a Democrat party front group.”

That was obvious in the sentence where they blamed him for refusing to fund the government.

“Rep. Neugebauer’s demeaning treatment of the ranger reinforces the commonly held belief that members of Congress are arrogant and have an over-inflated sense of superiority,”

No, shoving Obamacare on us while exempting themselves reinforces that belief.

Getting up in someone's grill to fight for a 90+ year old veteran to get what may be his last chance to pay respects to his brothers / sisters in arms helps redeem Congress' image.
