'BREAKING BAD': A CHRISTIAN PARABLE
anncoulter.com ^ | 10/2/13 | Ann Coulter

...This [column is] about AMC's smash TV series "Breaking Bad" -- the most Christian Hollywood production since Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ." (Not surprisingly, both were big hits!)

It may seem counterintuitive that a TV show about a meth cook could have a conservative theme, much less a Christian one, but that's because people think Christian movies are supposed to have camels -- or a "Little House on the Prairie" cast. READ THE BIBLE! It's chockablock with gore, incest, jealousy, murder, love and hate.

Because the Bible tells the truth, the lessons are eternal -- which also marks the difference between great literature and passing amusements. Recall that even Jesus usually made his points with stories.

I watched Sons of Anarchy and I decided to drop it. Nothing to do with anything that shocked me, but because of the bad writing, acting, cartoonish plot, and production values.

I gave up on it too.

Silliest show (not just one female doctor that became a biker chick, but her female doctor boss was one too!) that ever tried to be "lofty".

I started on it because Sutter helped on The Shield.

We found out that The Shield was good despite Sutter....not because of him.

Ann is trying a little too hard here. The real Christian parables use narrative to point to The Father or His Kingdom, whereas Ann’s BB parables point in a different direction.

Nonetheless, BB is an astonishing, fascinating, gripping, humorous, and devastating morality play. It shows the downside consequences of pride and the lust for drugs, money and power.

I recommend it highly because of the writing, acting, storytelling, and cinematography.

Always interesting to hear other opinions. Justified is great. I really enjoyed the Shield, just different strokes I guess. I have some hearing issues so the accents don’t bother me. I love Sons though. I have a puppy named Tig after Kim Coates character, and I am such a sap that some of the episodes of Sons made me cry. Opie’s death in particular. I loved the relationship between Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal. Theo Rossi cracks me up, and well, Charlie Hunnam is super yummy. Also, I think the acting in the season 2 episode where Gemma tells Jax and Clay about being gang raped broke my heart. Sagal deserves an Emmy for that or Season 3.
The whole Tara/Wendy/Lowen thing they are doing now could be fun.
And I give Sutter props in that he doesn’t ask his actors to do anything he isn’t willing to do himself.

I’ve never watched it. In fact, I can’t really say I’ve heard of it.

Ann Coulter, though, has been in the Romney-redemption mode for a coupla months, but that whole mitt-love thing means to look with skeptical eye at anything she writes. Just because it’s AC doesn’t mean it’s conservative.

Don’t trust; verify. She’s sort of a female Pat Buchanen. Some really good stuff, and some that’ll make you gag.

Breaking Bad was a terrific ride. I feel absolutely lost now that it is over. It will be a long time before-if EVER- a TV show can come close to this one.
