President Obama's 70-minute White House meeting late Wednesday afternoon with congressional leaders, an effort to break the stalemate over the partial government shutdown, did nothing to help end the impasse.
"We had a nice conversation, light conversation," House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said following the meeting, but noted the president repeated that he will not negotiate on dialing back Obamacare.
He added that he hopes that Mr. Obama and Democrats will have a serious discussion about resolving their differences with House Republicans.
"All we're asking for is a discussion and fairness for the American people under Obamacare," he said.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said after the meeting, "We had some candid discussion."
But, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., added, "We are where we are. We're through playing these games" on Obamacare, he added. Earlier Wednesday, Mr. Obama said that Wall Street should be worried about more serious consequences now that the government is closed for business and the debt limit deadline is just around the corner.

yes, because the clown is not a leader. he wants to dictate outcomes, and he whines when his desires are not granted.
spoiled child. emphasis on spoiled, and emphasis on child.
0bama opposes basic fairness for women and children.
yes, and CNN’s ratings are...in the toilet.
You can’t trust any politician. Just keep on pressuring Boehner to stay the course on what he’s doing now.
There’s no guarantee he won’t collapse and no guarantee he won’t be weak in the future again. But go for what you can get now.
Great let’s keep it that way.
The ‘rats ask Bonehead & Co. to the White Hut, to tell them “We’re still not negotiating.” So they can tell people who don’t follow the news “We tried.”?
We’re waging jihad! :)
Congressional leaders say no deal reached after meeting with Obama over partial suspension, after House spent day in high-drama showdown over mini-spending bills, with Rep. George Miller accusing GOP of waging ‘jihad.’
I find that incredibly offensive.
If we stop spending outflows to be less than or equal to revenues, there's no need to increase the ceiling. Let's just do that.
Dear George:
Uh, Bammy's the muzzie.
That's been my suggestion for the last few days too.
Ask Boner been directly questioned regarding this issue?
Harry “Death To Children!” Reid.
Bammy needs to be driven from office so he can spend more time at the Mosque.
Thank God!!!!!!! I hope this goes on at least a month!!!! I will even say without pay since I am a nasty government worker not working at the moment. I want the Republicans to win EVERY seat in 2014. We can do this......a war is NOT pretty. The Republicans must remain “dirty”.
So do I. The liberals are making fools of themselves. They’ve always been fools, now the public gets to see the spectacle.
The Feds have enslaved the States and Locals through revenue sharing and Federal programs. Within a month the States are going to be hurting if they don’t get the monthly download from Bammy’s stash.
Yeah, but the last shutdown didn't result in the seas boiling and the sun falling out of the sky...
If you think the press is silly about the shutdown, wait until the debt limit is reached - theyll be apoplectic.
Just like your credit card you need to earn a limit increase.
Raising it just to allow more spending doesn’t quailfy...
“”Dingy Harry is looking worse and worse every day.””
Is it true that he’s driven to work every day in a hearse? It’s parked behind the Capitol where it won’t draw attention...
