The US government shutdown puts international science collaboration in peril and could have far-reaching impacts on innovation and research, a top science group said Wednesday.
"If the government shutdown continues for a week or more, it is going to make the United States less desirable as an international research collaborator," said Joanne Carney, director of the American Association for the Advancement of Science Office of Government Relations.
"When funding is no longer reliable, many of our research partners may be unable to continue collaborating with us," she said in a statement.

I’ll LOL with you. Noticed bread was still on the shelf today.

WTF is that?
I don’t recall reading that Edison used Government grants for his amazing inventions.
"Be a shame if anything happened to that invention of yours....."
Just hilarious reading all of these frenzied stories ONE DAY into the “shutdown.” Whatta buncha drama queens!
Then Move!
bs
Now there's a job title. And a purely objective view.
It's far worse than that. The Republican government shutdown will make the entire country less attractive for blood-sucking bureaucratic parasites the world over. Think of the damage to five-star hotels and exclusive restaurants! The humanity!!
I appreciate the volume of complaints on the shutdown — anecdotes to why the govt should NOT be involved in health care.
Up to this point, the govt can be shutdown; however, what would happen if govt had a stranglehold on the health care process?
The lovely Senator Landrieu recently expressed great concern for those that would be affected by the shutdown. Our friend from LA indicated that federally provided flood insurance and related services would not be available if the shutdown was to go into effect — the shutdown would cause great risk and adversity for those that depend on the insurance. Image that. Imagine if everyone’s health care depended on the govt. What then?

WTF is that?
Probably one of obamaramadingdongs “special” groups used to spend American Taxpayer money to make muzzies feel good about themselves and scientific achievements they never made.
Exactly the kind of clotted, overwrought rhetoric that follows any and every move by Republicans which comes up against any and every Obama policy—the words of a subsidized hack with serious Administration ties searching for stories about how catastrophic the shutdown (they hope, they hope!) will prove to be. Good thing for them they were able to find some kids with cancer they can point to to make their point.
Anything happens to them, and believe me, it will be exploited six ways to Sunday.
Oh yeah. Science has ground to a halt in my lab. /s
Well, bye.
If GloBULL warming is settled “science”, then it’s a good thing.
Most of the objective science in the post modern era occurs in private labs. The government only funds political science.
Yeah, all those scientists are just going to race to the “developed” countries like Greece, or Spain, or Kenya, or China. Uh huh.
