Nah, before you get paid perhaps. You can file for UI the day you’re laid-off, furloughed, fired or quit. Quitting puts the burden of proof on you, though.

I thought you had to be out of work 2 weeks before you could file ???? That's the way it was the last time I was laid off in the private sector. But who know? Maybe those rules don't apply to federal workers just like Obamacare doesn't...

No, in TN, I believe there is a 1 week wait after you file before you are eligible for benefits. But that just means you should file as soon as you get notice.
