The automaker announced on Tuesday that it would allow Hyundai owners to stop making car payments for as long as the shutdown keeps them out of work.

Used to be a S. Korean fan, especially companies...Fed workers have lots of cash saved and get paid back pay when they return. Good grief.
wow... will they extend this offer to those who have been laid off in the private sector? yeah right...
This is a pure marketing ploy. I wonder what their research data shows?
Since most car loans are made by 3rd party lenders, are they going to keep the banks current? Or does this just apply to paper that they hold?
That is really awesome. However, the daily interst rate continues I am sure. Nice gesture. Hopefully other companies do the same. American companies working with fellow Americans is good to see. And to think that Democrats think the American companies are evil. Sad for them.
Yes it is. It is a smart public relations move on their part. I'm sure Hyundai has concluded the shutdown will only last a few days, maybe a week at the most. Permitting car buyers to defer their payments for a few days doesn't hurt them, and allows Huyndai to portray themselves as a compassionate company who cares about their customers.
I would think it wouldn’t be the Hyundai Car Company but the Hyundai Finance company that would be able to do this.
This seems to fit with their overall marketing strategy. Back in ‘09-10 they were offering an Assurance plan where they’d take the car back, no questions asked, if you lost your job.
This is just slick marketing. Style without any need of substance, i.e. the advertising will cost more than any actual cost for Hyundai.
And a way (apparently) to piss off some FReepers /grin
Why not make points with government workers? Not long and they’ll be the only ones with jobs than can afford cars anyway.
American company???
