They are NOT “right wing”. I am right wing. I advocate for SMALL government, tax cuts and a reduction in welfare. Golden Dawn advocates for BIGGER government, against austerity measures to balance the budget, and increased unemployment compensation. These is LEFTIST ideology.

Only the communists fit that description. The variants of socialism governing Germany, Italy and Spain in the late 1930s had relatively good economic records. This is due largely to their preference to govern private industry lightly.
Note that the Greek PM partially blamed Golden Dawn for Greece's poor economic performance. The responsibility actually lies with the mismanagement of the economy under PASOK, effectively Greece's socialist party. PASOK entered into the infamous cross-currency swaps in 2002, governed until 2004 and again from 2009 to 2011. The strategy of the current New Democracy party seems to be to capture the entire conservative vote by outlawing Golden Dawn. Their tactics are nearly as anti-democratic as their opponents', as noted upthread, but reflect the authoritarian streak in Greek society.
We cannot judge them severely for this. Samaras may well understand the potential for Golden Dawn to engineer a putsch similar to Germany in 1932-33.

In Europe, nationalist means far right. They really do not understand small government at all over there. Nigel Farage is trying to educate them about that. Basically if you are for an EU union and socialism, you are a leftist. If you are for your nation and you want fascism, you are far right. They only squabble about the degree of big government control, not if big government should be in control. Orwell had them all pegged many years ago.
Their solution is to pick out one group and put all of this on them. Ain't gonna work.
Just for historical purposes, the German Establishment prohibited Hitler from speaking, because he had some magical power to get people to respond. That didn't work out either.
The solution is to institute private property rights, institute a free market and set off economic growth. You have to give people a way out to make a living. Once people are focused on the peaceful means of earning a living, accumulating property and making a future for themselves, society calms down and becomes productive.
Will the Greed Statists do this? No.
