Beware Of The Police's Increasing Militarization
Investor's Business Daily ^ | September 30, 2013 | IBD EDITORIALS

Policing: The Dallas County Sheriff's Office gets an MRAP tactical military vehicle, used for counterinsurgency fighting in Iraq, as law enforcement becomes a collection of SWAT teams pursuing not-always-guilty Americans.

In early August, a SWAT team broke through the gates of a 3.5-acre farm in Arlington, Texas, that promotes a sustainable lifestyle and did a 10-hour search of the property. Residents were handcuffed and held at gunpoint as police looked for nonexistent marijuana plants and various city code violations.

As the owners watched, 10 tons of their private property was hauled off in trucks — dangerous items such as blackberry bushes, okra, tomatillo plants, native grasses and sunflowers that provided food and bedding for animals, everything from furniture to compost.

The city said the code citations were issued to the farm after complaints by neighbors "concerned that the conditions" at the farm "interfere with the useful enjoyment of their properties and are detrimental to property values and community appearance."

The SWAT raid came after "the Arlington Police Department received a number of complaints that the same property owner was cultivating marijuana plants on the premises," the city's statement said. So why not just knock on the door with a search warrant?

My theory on no-knock raids is they should only be allowed if the state’s governor signs off on them. You’d be amazed how many fewer there would be.

During long, low-intensity wars, soldiers act like cops and later cops act like soldiers.

This isn't really about militarizing police.

This is about DHS staging military equipment around the country so they can come and take it when Ubama declares martial law.

If neighbors were complaining sounds like that’s not a real “farm” — there are codes to follow in the cities and if you don’t you might pay the consequences.

I noticed ten years ago, before leaving the USSA, police, even in small bedroom towns, were morphing into jack-booted thugs. I do not know what started the craze, other then TV and movies.

The thing that totally crystallized it for me was the day they caught that Boston bomber lying in that boat after going full martial law on the city of Boston. It was getting dark and the cops, fbi, and various alphabet agencies were parading through Watertown MA - basically doing their victory lap. Regular people had come out of their houses (after being under house arrest for what I guess was 24 hours) and were applauding all the JBT’s.

Two things happened on camera.

1. One of the blue jacketed types went up to another of same and they did some sort of high five, man hug, victory jig - it was all very quick and over in a few seconds.

2. A few seconds later a Joe Citizen went up to one of those two JBT’s just in an attempt to do same and basically the JBT was like - “Get the F away from me”.

It was caught on national TV and to me it spoke volumes. Protect and server - my aunt fannie - that went out the window a generation ago.

Denny Hastert and his pork spreading to every district with War on Terror money. I want to know who had stock in the IPO's of all the toys they bought for the local cops. I noticed many dem's stopped complaining when they started spreading the wealth so to speak. Reeks to high heaven IMHO..

Cops should stick to their assigned responsibilities:

Raising money for the welfare state from innocent citizens attempting to legally go about their day.

To Serve & Protect = To Dominate & Intimidate

So, when are the people permitted to object to and resist this? When their pets are shot in the living room by swat teams smashing in their doors? Oops, already happening.

What about when swat teams invade homes for minor traffic warrants and the like? Oops, already happening

Hmm, well then, maybe when the paramilitary police beat up and drag people from their homes without warrants, to search for criminals that are somewhere else? Oops, already happening.

But, but, how can this be happening with Democrats in charge and the ACLU eager to defend our Constitutional rights?

The better for the LEOtards to shoot our dogs....

Hey, Dallas LEOtards: How do you like enforcing beautification ordinances in your combat gear, you jocksniffers?

If those folks were cleared of any wrongdoing, they should SUE BIGTIME and buy up the entire neighborhood. Now there’s a good use for my tax money !

I was opposed to all this arming of smaller cities and town police forces with more advanced weaponry.

I’m having second thoughts.

Yes, they will cause a lot of deaths, but for those of us who need and want real firepower, the physically closer to us that it is stored, the easier it will be to obtain.

These faux LEO’s will be just doing their job, while we will be fighting for our families, our homes, and our children’s future.

Not only will we be more determined, we are a lot smarter than the average LEO.

I know who’s side I’m betting on.

I recommend the following book highly: Rise of the Warrior Cop. It is an excellent history containing the court cases and legislation that have led to the mess we face. For the most part it was due to Republican support for the drug war. Best we own it and fix it before it owns us.
