I havent the foggiest.
Given the fact that the freen lasers are said to be able to light a match instantaneously I’d doubt that any lenses could filter that sort of wavelength of light significantly enough to be of much use...but I could be wronng
power to the people man...../s
laser against laser would be my choice..and I bet the perps lasers LOSE bigtime
It is even easier than that. Make the plane’s front visual space out of an appropriate material (most likely some type of polycarbonate ) with a rejection band thin film coating.
These are not really ‘high powered’ devices at all...though they do get classified as such. The truth is they are in the visible realm. They scatter like a son of a gin. The power encountered falls off as distance squared. The biggest danger is the eye response, not unlike that experienced by automobile drivers encountering high beams on a dark road from an on coming car.
As usual this is much ado about a non problem
Do NOT make public announcements the way you just did in a manner not directed to anyone in particular, in requesting assistance on whatever it is you require.
Even the method I will provide you with to resolve issues such as the one you sought help for is NOT in any way the official approach for you to get anything done. And using the approach more than once or twice is not going to endear you with any one in the position to be of help. So, I wholeheartedly advise you to limit yourself in this way in as minimal as possible if you ever find yourself again in the situation.
You will notice in every comment box, an item entitled REPORT ABUSE. Now that is to be used ONLY in situations where you feel a poster in involved in making abusive comments or acting in an asocial, abusive manner. That is the only situation in which you would REPORT ABUSE.But in a case where a grammatical or spelling error is so egregious, or having submitted information in the wrong field as to require immediate help you would consider contacting the Moderator via the Report Abuse mode written very simply and straight to the point as the Moderators are exceedingly busy and occupied.
I thought Zimmerman killed that Martin guy.
It’s freaking hilarious to see them not name the perpetrators!
one down,.......countless more to go
This is why I don’t post on FR. All the help one gets about how to do it.
Thank you for the helpful advice. I think I may have incorrectly hit the ‘abuse’ button at least once according to your post, so the clarification is most appreciated.
“You mean, ram a drone into ducted fan engines?”
Correct. Mini-drones with autonomous GPS navigation...NOT RC.
See:
“Rezwan Ferdaus could have attacked Obamas Air Force One in a runway kill zone (RKZ) not unlike JFKs Dealey Plaza”
I quit worrying about lasers on pilots after I watched the Egyptian helicopters calmly circle the crowds below. Red lasers, green lasers, blue lasers... take your pick.
That’s one less pointless poster to waste your time skipping over.
“It seems to me that this is a technical problem. Can they not create some glasses that nullifies the laser beam?”
Laser safety glasses are effective for the EXACT laser wavelength and pass most others.
So if you had glasses that absolutely block the common green laser, 533 nanometers, they would not block a laser that was royal blue (477 nanometers iirc). A laser goggle good for a red laser (like 633 nanometers) might not stop an infrared laser. One of the things that makes lasers useful is the precision of their color.
Some laser safety glasses don’t transmit much light at all, they might be equivalent to sunglasses that only let in 25% of all light, making it hard to fly at night or see cockpit indicators.
So if you had glasses that blocked ALL potential laser threats, you would not be able to see through them!
I have safety goggles that are good for a 405 nm laser, but they pass red light from my 650 nm red laser quite well.
Better to teach ethics and responsibility in schools.

Look at the rapid eyewear finder at the link.
It was worth spending the time just to see your very clever
original tagline.
*grin*
“The power encountered falls off as distance squared.”
That’s for a point source, not a laser with a .1 milliradian beam spread, like a laser pointer.
A laser pointer’s beam spot at 2 kilometers can be as small as 2.5 meters, depending on wavelength.
Frikkin’ sharks.
In the states it is usually either one of two types. The first is a teenager(s) screwing off in their back yard. The second is the disgruntled @hole who bought a house close to the airport and now is mad about the noise.
You’re so nice. I am sure you work at it.
Anyone here know the details of an incident involving a laser beam aimed at the pilot of a U.S. Navy aircraft in the Puget Sound area some years ago? The pilot was able to land the plane, but his flying career was terminated.
