House Republicans will vote to pass a one-year delay of Obamacare in exchange for funding the government, a plan that drastically increases the chances of a government shutdown this Tuesday. The decision was announced by the GOP leadership in a closed meeting Saturday afternoon, according to sources present. Republicans will also pass a bill to fund U.S. troops if the government shuts down, according to GOP lawmakers. The Houses funding measure will keep the government open until mid December. This puts Senate Democrats and the White House at loggerheads with House Republicans...
“...drastically increases...”? I would say “hopefully increases”. Shut down the feds. The feds (with few exceptions) aren’t worth employing.
We have ALWAYS survived government shutdowns (about 17 times in recent history) - doing so is just a “bump in the road”. But, it is not the GOP who has been making the threat, and it is not the “vetted rebels” in the GOP that has made the threat - it has been the White Crib and the Senate Majority Leader who are really making the threat as a proxy for the GOP NOT making the threat. The Libs are trying to project the shutdown that they are threatening onto the GOPe.
