Cruz Details Senate Strategy to Defund Obamacare
National Review ^ | 9/22/13 | Eliana Johnson

**SNIP**

As both Rich and Bob have noted, the Texas senator and his colleague Mike Lee have long said they are relying on a popular uprising to force senators’ hands. Cruz alluded to that on Sunday. After the House vote, and with a 60-vote threshold in the Senate, he suggested that calls from constituents may begin to flood into the offices of red-state Democrats like Arkansas’ Mark Pryor and Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu. That, he said, “changes the calculus entirely,” and may push some Democrats to vote in favor of the measure to defund. That also remains to be seen.

But Cruz made it clear on Sunday as he has before: “The house is the only body where the Republicans have a majority, so the house has to lead on this.” This week, however, the bill heads to the Senate and we will see how much support Cruz and Lee can corral for the initiative they have spearheaded.

Liberals are desperately screeching this "Law of the land" line. I think they're afraid that decades of "progressivism" is fixing to be flushed. Some even want us dead.

Of course let Cruz and co know you support them as well.

Establishment RINO's Strike Back...Not happy with Cruz....

From Breitbart...

----

On Sunday, Chris Wallace, the host of Fox News Sunday, said that Republicans in Washington were savaging Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) behind Cruz's back before Cruz's appearance on the program to discuss defunding Obamacare. In an appearance on Washington D.C.'s Fox 5 to preview his Sunday show, Wallace said, "I will tell you I have never in my time in Washington seen a party so upset with one of its own members."

He said he had been flooded with opposition research on Cruz--from Republicans. Later on Fox News Sunday, Wallace said these "top Republicans" gave him "unsolicited research and questions" to "hammer" Cruz.

"Since we announced that Ted Cruz was going to be on the show, I've been getting background research and questions going after Cruz not from Democrats but from other Republicans," Wallace said on Fox 5. "They really feel he has put them in this corner that they can't get out of gracefully and they're not very happy with him."

-------

Keep up the great work, Ted! The heat is ON and WE the People have your back!

I have no problem leaning on Stabenow and Levin. Levin is on his way out so I’m leaning on Gary Peters who is running to replace Levin and calling on him to denounce Obamacare.

They key question, he said, is whether Senate majority leader Harry Reid will require amendments to the House bill to be subject to a 60-vote threshold. “We will not allow you to add the funding back for Obamacare with just 51 votes,” Cruz told Fox News’ Chris Wallace.

Reid won't have to add anything, thanks to the way Boehner wrote the continuing resolution. All Reid has to do is propose a motion to strike the clause to defund Obamacare. Procedurally that requires only 51 votes and then Reid holds a simple up or down vote on the rest. That sends it back to the conference committee. Cruz won't have a chance to filibuster.

These RINO bastards fight harder against members of their own party than they do the Democrats. This party is a disgrace.

And in all of this are the Republican/Conservative constituents and taxpayers that they couldn’t give a damn about.

The Democrats are laughing their asses off.

Agree. I'm sure there were several to many who contacted Wallace, but he (Wallace) specifically mentioned three RINO's who've attacked Cruz, in the interview:

Corker, Griffin (AR) and Peter King (NY)....WORTHLESS RINO'S, ALL!

DOMA was law of the land also. Maybe the Republicans should mention that on the news shows?

Boehner wrote the CR with a single clause preventing any spending on Obamacare. Take that clause out and you remove the restriction. What he should have done is write the resolution funding the government less any Obamacare costs. For example, if HHS funding was $500 billion and $100 billion of that was attributable to Obamacare then they should have provided only $400 billion for the department. That would have required Reid to add an amendment to add funding. And that could have been filibustered. But it’s all for show. Boehner adds the clause. Reid removes the clause. Bill goes back to conference committee. GOP goes for a delay rather than a defunding. Democrats negotiate that down even more. And in the end the CR passes and Obamacare lives in some shape or form.
