There are 31 people confirmed dead in Saturday's attack at a Nairobi shopping mall, the Kenya National Disaster Operation Centre tweeted. "Bodies in the lobby area and ground floor to be removed," the organization added.
Several hours after the assault began, Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-linked militant group based in Somalia, claimed responsibility for the bloodshed.
There were also 100 people injured, the official said.
As darkness fell in Nairobi, authorities said as many as 36 hostages are still being held by the gunmen in the mall...
Americans were also injured in the attack, said Deputy State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf.
But the group said "there will be no negotiations whatsoever" at the mall. The extremists also said on Twitter that "all Muslims inside #Westgate were escorted out by the Mujahideen before beginning the attack."

This is an important attack, not just for the dead and their grieving families, because it shows the Islamist clearly for what they are. Put this together with the innumerable murders in Christian churches and the villages that surround them and you see an all out and remorseless attack on civilization itself. Boko Haram and it’s rejection of anything tainted by non Islamic influence speaks for all believers. If the Islamists tell the truth, why won’t the MSM in America report it? Rhetorical question.
