Obama: Military Will See Disruption in Pay if Congress Doesn’t Raise Debt Ceiling, Pass Budget

U.S. military personnel will face a disruption in pay if Congress doesn’t quickly pass a budget and raise the debt ceiling, President Barack Obama warned in his weekly address Saturday.

“The government will shut down. So will many services the American people will expect,” Obama said, speaking of the consequences he says the country will suffer if Congress can’t come to an agreement on a continuing resolution bill. “Military personnel, including those deployed overseas, won’t get their paychecks on time.”

On Friday, the House stripped funding for the president’s landmark healthcare law from a continuing resolution bill to fund the government. If Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid reinserts the funding when the bill reaches the Senate, which he most likely will, some Republicans have threatened filibuster it.

U.S. military personnel will face a disruption in pay if Congress doesn’t quickly pass a budget and raise the debt ceiling, President Barack Obama warned in his weekly address Saturday.

But let me assure the voters that there will be no disruption in my tax payer vacations of $100,000,000.00.

P, that is reinforcement for your mistake? The article nowhere say “debt ceiling increased”, it is about the CR passed by the House.

Debt ceiling increase fight is coming up in October.

Maybe, but I’m not looking at it that way. I’m looking at it as a typical political threat taken to an absurd level, as in:

“Cut the budget and the airplanes will be grounded.”

“Defund any aspect of Obamacare and the government will shut down. The military won’t be paid.”

Or, if you want to go international, how about the recent Syrian and Iranian threats, “If the US does anything to harm our interests, we’ll bomb Israel.”

I don’t get it, the left hates the military so I’m guessing the idea of them not receiving pay excites them to no end.

Nothing makes sense anymore, or I am just so far removed from the thought process of a typical commie that I can’t connect the dots.

I’d like to see the military.....’react’... to that.

We are not a third world banana republic. Our military will not revolt. And Obama knows it.

That's because he has replaced all the military high commands with his own yes men, because he anticipated a coup in the future.

the USD is in serious trouble of being de-throned as the Reserve Currency. We produce little. We mostly just consume and bomb stuff.

at the current borrowing rate of 200 million $ an hour, 24/7, we cant even pay the interest on the debt

If it happens that the rest of the world cuts us off and pulls the plug, we could be in serious trouble, A poop storm of biblical proportions. Our military wont even have enough gas to get troops back from Afghanistan, we wont be able to just go bomb everyone into submission to keep loaning us money

Coups don’t happen when all the generals are politicians hand picked by the dictator.

The only way the conservatives can win this argument is by slapping the snot out of anyone who interupts them when they’re speaking the truth that it’s the democrats and obama who are not paying the military. They’ll be interviewed constantly. But they’re going to have to play rough to be heard.

So we take down the media. One advertiser at a time. We pick one, boycott it and once they pull their advertising, it is off to the next.

YES!

If we learned anything from this defunding fight, it's that pressure works.

A tyrant indeed!! He’s a foolish, arrogant, totalitarian dictator!!! I said from day one that president obama is not who he appears to be.He is not at the intellectual level of any other president we’ve ever had.I truly believe he is just a pawn in a bigger game. The only thing that keeps him in office is his charm.I’ll at least give him that. There are to many things that point to terrorist.I realize (sadly)that most Americans are not very intelligent,or maybe just weak.It pains me to say it but it’s true.I mean come on people you’ve put him in office TWICE!!!! America looks weaker by the day,as no one stands up for what is right. It is just a matter of time before our country as we know it no longer exists. There will be no one left to blame but the fools who put him in charge of our once strong an courageous country.I know this is going to sound crazy, and people will doubt my sanity, but in the end I know I’ll be right, obama is almost definitely the anti-christ.We, people, are nearing the end.

Obama gets to set the priorities. If there is a mutiny then it is on his head. Sane for a default on debt payments or a recession... He is the priority setter not the congress.

If he stops paying the military, they should simply lay down their weapons and walk off the field.

Better yet, they should KEEP their weapons and walk off the field, take the first flight home, and use those weapons to restore our constitutional republic to its original format.

This tyranny cannot stand.

O always goes after the military first.

Legally non-discretionary spending has to be met before discretionary spending. The defense budget is discretionary spending.
