PITTSBURGH — Channel 11 News has learned that dozens of local Transportation Security Administration workers have been fired or suspended for involvement in an illegal gambling ring.
After months of investigation, officials with the Pittsburgh office of Homeland security either fired or suspended the workers involved Thursday morning.
Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski reported of the 311 local workers, five were fired, 47 were suspended and 10 letters of reprimand were sent out.
All of the workers involved are accused of sports gambling at Pittsburgh International Airport while in uniform. Officials said the gambling was a violation of federal regulations.
Government officials said public safety and security was never put at risk.

What’s the problem? These gangsters will get rehired by those companies SUED BY ERIC HOLDER for doing criminal background checks on prospective employees!!
So only about 18% were caught.

These TSA guys remind me of the deadhead’s who work in a boiler-room ‘charity fundraiser’ phone tank here in my town.
They keep most of what they raise while leading people to think it’s going to a good cause.
I see them taking breaks and they look like criminals.

If you figure there are 66 “significant” airports (>0.25% of all air traffic) that’s >800 TSA peeps per location.
(calc doesn’t including management, train and bus stations, etc.)

TSA is MASSIVELY overstaffed in most of it’s airports, due to the huge hiring spree in early 2012, to keep unemployment numbers low for the election.
That they would use an office pool as a way to cut headcounts now is not surprising to me.
They don’t call it, “Thousands Standing Around” for nothing, you know.

And most of them do nothing. I saw a group of about 10 tsa agents sitting watching TV at a airport restaurant, for over two hours. Still stirring when my flight left.
No problem. They will be hired as obamcare navigators pdq.
I’d rather they be gambling than groping grandma.
