Who would have “institutionalized” him?
Unless a person is considered dangerous they aren’t going to be institutionalized.
There are many, many people running around with this similar profile...
That didn’t used to be the case, did it? Thought in my youth-many years ago-we kept our nuts locked up.
It’s virtually impossible to get a person involuntarily (or even voluntarily) institutionalized for more than a few days now, even when they have demonstrated that they are a threat to others or themselves. I don’t know what it takes to be considered dangerous enough to be institutionalized more than the 72 hours they usually permit.
That said, it appears that this guy’s violence issues (like shooting out the tires of somebody he said “disrespected” him and shooting into his neighbor’s ceiling because she had complained about his loud music) were all resolved in such a way that they didn’t appear on his record. The charges were dropped by the prosecutor in the second case, and in the first, they were just reduced to a misdemeanor.
Sort of like what happened with Trayvon Martin: anything to avoid giving him a record and making the police department or prosecutor’s office look like they had too many black arrests.
He was apparently very aggressive in proclaiming his offended status, too, something that seemed to extend to the entire family, because according to one person interviewed, his sister acted exactly the same way and was known for complaining that people in her apartment complex were “dissing” her by parking in certain places, etc. I think he had rather a chip on his shoulder, in addition to being nuts, and that more will come out about this. He reminds me of the LIRR gunman years ago.
